Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #108

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.

This week, my quote is from my current read, On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins. It’s a sad, but still hopeful story, where Kate suddenly became a widow after only four months of being married. And she is devastated, of course. And at the same time, she feels like everyone else knew Nathan better than she did.

My Thirsty Thursday quote:

Al brought over a bottle of fume blanc and poured me a glass. I took a sip. Hello, wine, my old friend. The last time I drank wine was the night my husband died.
The wine soured in my mouth, and I had to force myself to swallow. If wine was ruined, Nathan’s death would really be a tragedy. Right? Get that? Gallows humor. Ha. I forced myself to take another sip to ease the spike in my throat.

Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.

    Oh man that’s rough 🙁 I have a feeling I would really like this character, her attempt at humor in such a sucky situation makes me think she’s resilient. And you’ve got me so curious about what happened… so yeah, going on my TBR.

    Happy Thursday! I’m SO TIRED today… it’s almost time for me to leave and I’d like to just lay down and take a nap :/ Have a great day. Miss you lots! {{HUGS}}

    • I know! So rough. But Kate is really amazing, and even if there is a lot of sadness, there is much more than that, too. I look forward to reviewing it, too!
      Miss you lots, too, Berls! And I’m so happy tomorrow is Friday – I NEED the weekend, even if we change the time this weekend.

  2. Ohh… I’m CURIOUS about this book. It sounds like my latest terajerker I’ve read last week. These kinds of reads are torture but addicting. I’ll add this to my TBR list. Just in fase I might be ready some day. 🙁 😀

  3. Ouch. I love how she’s talking to herself in her own head. I do that sometimes too. She seems like a great character. I was reading a series called Empathy in the Preternatural PNW and the main character is quite obsessed with baked goods so it made me think of this feature LOL
