Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #150

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.

My Hungry Hearts quote this week is from Pretty as a Peach by Juliette Poe. My review is up today as well 😉 the whole Sex and Sweet Tea series is filled with good food and drinks, and I could populate months of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts posts with it. My quote is from well into the story, and Darby has been included in the Mancinkus clan. And where there is a clan – there is food!

My Hungry Hearts quote:

Pretty as a Peach cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Weekend Wrap-up

Mostly to my delight is the food. I get to experience a true Eastern North Carolina pig picking complete with chopped and pulled pork, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. I’ve eaten so much I swear I probably gained ten pounds tonight.
Larking outdid herself on the cake. She didn’t do anything fancy, and Della hadn’t wanted the little plastic bride and groom on the top. Instead, they decided to go with just big fat roses done in white buttercream frosting all over the three-layered cake. Because there are so many guests, Larking did matching cupcakes and there are six dozen of them surrounding the main cake on the table.

Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.

    • I did know, as she told me at RT2015… However, this is the first time I picked one up, and I am so happy I did! I devoured the first three books in this series as soon as I finished this one, Sophia.
I think she was smart to use an alter-ego, though, as this is much sweater and a bit more innocent than her other books.

  1. Omigosh! That all sounds so good! I was thinking the pork and cole slaw sounded yummy…then I got to the buttercream frosting! YUM! Yeah, I’m a frosting girl. 😉
