The Sunday Post #70 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

This week, both my classes had their first English test with me… I haven’t corrected all the tests yet, but it seems they did mostly well, and that’s great! I’m happy about that, because it means that they understand what I’ve been talking about for the past month 😀 On Wednesday morning, Mr. Lex left early to go to Montréal for the PeeWee hockey tournament, he’s the coach for a Swiss hockey team for the tourney, and I’m sure he’s having a great time. Today (maybe I’m even on my way now) I’m leaving for Spain with the two youngest kids, we’ll spend part of the week by the sea, even if it’s still quite chilly. We decided that a change in scenery would be nice since we have the whole week off.

The weather has been all over the place once again, we’ve had snow, rain, beautiful sunshine, pollen… I’m ready for spring, but I’m not quite ready for my allergies to kick back in, that’s for sure.

    • It’s not all that warmer in Spain, actually, but it’s by the sea, and at least it wasn’t raining when we arrived this afternoon, Michelle 🙂
Yeah, I was happy about those tests I’ve already looked at. It means I have done something right so far 😀

  1. Safe travels, and hope you have a great week in Spain! It’s been cold here and I’m ready for spring too.

Nice Outlander post, that was fun to read and you did a great job! Very well written, looking forward to your future installments. Take care and have a good week. 🙂

    • Thanks, Greg. Even if it’s winter here, too, the weather is a bit milder and we’re by the sea. The village where we have our apartment is practically deserted, though, since a lot of the people who live here work in the tourist industry, and tourists don’t usually start arriving until Easter.
I’m glad you enjoyed my Outlander Post 🙂

  2. Oh… your life sounds so decadent Lexxie – in terms of the travel I mean… cos I know you’re working and studying. Of course here in Australia we’re so far from anywhere, that a trip to another country requires a big effort (Though you can get to New Zealand or Bali in Indonesia for less than / about $500 each way!)

I hope the weather in Spain is great and you have a lovely time!

    • I think the traveling is in part thanks to the fact that we live in the middle of Europe, Deborah, and to come here to Spain, it’s only a seven-hour drive, and we’ve arrived. I don’t think I’d be able to travel as much to other countries if I lived in Australia or in the US.
The weather here is much better than at home, even if it is quite chilly. It’s just nice to be by the sea and have a change in scenery 🙂

    • True, there’s always something to do, Daniela. It’s mostly good, though, and I really enjoy correcting tests when the results are good 🙂
I love Spain, too, and even in the winter when we can’t really lounge on the beach, it’s nice to be by the sea.

  3. OMG.. Spain! I’m so jealous.. I just read a book that took place in Spain.. I love the sound of that country. And warmer definitely sounds great!
And congrats on seeing good results on your tests. That must be a great feeling!
Have a great trip to Spain! 😉

  4. I hope you have a great vacation! I have never left the USA but Spain sounds amazing! And don’t you just love it when your students ‘get it’ and you know your teaching is effective?! Enjoy your time in Spain!

  5. Lexxie,
Looks like you’ve had a amazing week even if the weather can’t figure out what it wants to do. Thankfully it’s been warm here which makes me a little worried how hot the summer will be. It’s so rewarding finding out that they do listen to you, English was always my favorite class in school. I think it’s amazing that your going to do a little traveling. I hope you have an amazing week because it looks like a good one. Happy reading!

    • Hopefully, the weather will sort itself out by the time we get back home before the weekend 🙂
It’s great when I can see that my students are progressing, but they find English hard (it’s their third language learnt in school, and many of them have a different native language than French, too) sometimes.
      Thanks for stopping by, Mandy.

  6. That’s great most of the tests you corrected so far the students did well. That must be nice to see they understand what you tought them :). I hope you’ll enjoy your time in Spain! A change of scenery is always nice. We had chilly weather, some rain and wind, but no snow. We also had one sunny day this week, so yes all over the place describes the weather here well too. Thanks for linking to my post about beta reading! I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • 🙂 We always get a full week off in February, then also 10 days off around Easter. It’s a nice break in the long spring semester!
It’s awesome when my students show me that I don’t talk just to myself when we’re in class together 😉

  7. Enjoy your trip! How nice to have a week’s getaway. My son and DIL, who live in Prague now, enjoy trips to Spain. They had their honeymoon there a couple of years ago.

I hope to rejoin Thirsty Thursdays, as I love that event…but my books lately haven’t had much in the way of “food” items…lol.

Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • I hope you’ll find some food or drinks in your books this week, Laurel-Rain, I’ve missed you on TTHH lately 🙂
Changing the scenery can be just as important as the actual time off for me, looking out of the window and seeing the sea is wonderful 🙂

  8. I hope you and #3 and #4 are safely ensconced by the sea by now and are enjoying it!! 🙂 We are enjoying a day off together although the kids do have winter music rehearsals this afternoon. But for now, we’re enjoying some time together since James took off today. I understand weird weather. We’ve had lots of snow, as you know. Now we’re having warm temps and very high winds! We lost a tree Saturday night…luckily it didn’t fall towards our home, which is what we’d been worrying about.
Enjoy your time away, my dear! Hopefully we can chat – I have a few things to catch you up on. 😉 And I’m sure you do as well. I’m enjoying Me Before You, by the way, even if it’s an emotional read. **BIG HUGS**
    p.s. Thanks for the shout-out! <3

  9. Spain for vacation just sounds wonderful to me. I know I will never make it to Europe but always wanted to. I am jealous of your ability to go to other countries all the time.I am glad your students are doing well with your teaching methods-always nice to be validated! Hope you have a wonderful time in Spain 🙂

  10. Amy

I hope you enjoy your holiday! It sounds like a lovely winter escape 🙂 good luck to Mr Lex too! It should be good fun 😀 it’s excellent news about your students 🙂 I’m glad your classes have done so well.
    Have a fantastic week,
    Amy x

  12. I have always wanted to go to Spain. If things in the US keep going downhill, I have considered becoming an ex pat and moving to Spain.

The weather here keeps being at odds, and I wind up very hot later in the day. I’m all kinds of hot mess. I have had to stop taking my 3 allergy medications and I’m itchy, scratchy and my ears have really started bugging me. Good thing my audiologist and allergist visit are conveniently scheduled for the same day next week!
