The Sunday Post #70 – Weekly Wrap-up
Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week, both my classes had their first English test with me… I haven’t corrected all the tests yet, but it seems they did mostly well, and that’s great! I’m happy about that, because it means that they understand what I’ve been talking about for the past month 😀 On Wednesday morning, Mr. Lex left early to go to Montréal for the PeeWee hockey tournament, he’s the coach for a Swiss hockey team for the tourney, and I’m sure he’s having a great time. Today (maybe I’m even on my way now) I’m leaving for Spain with the two youngest kids, we’ll spend part of the week by the sea, even if it’s still quite chilly. We decided that a change in scenery would be nice since we have the whole week off.
The weather has been all over the place once again, we’ve had snow, rain, beautiful sunshine, pollen… I’m ready for spring, but I’m not quite ready for my allergies to kick back in, that’s for sure.

Ahh! That must be so nice to be able to go to Spain! The weather here has been really weird too. As I type this it’s 7 degrees and feels like -12….why? LOL…I hate pollen but I can’t wait for Spring.
*high five* to you and your students! 🙂
Enjoy your week off my friend! I hope it’s a great week! Happy Reading! ox
It’s not all that warmer in Spain, actually, but it’s by the sea, and at least it wasn’t raining when we arrived this afternoon, Michelle 🙂
Yeah, I was happy about those tests I’ve already looked at. It means I have done something right so far 😀

Hope you guys have a fun and safe trip! I’m very much in awe of your ability (motivation?) to post a review each day of the week 🙂
Thanks Xxertz 🙂 I don’t always post reviews on every weekday, but when I have a lot ready to go, I feel like I might as well share 🙂
That’s great your students seem to have done well on their tests- gotta make you feel good! Have fun in Spain!!
-lauren
Yes, it does feel pretty good, Lauren.
Safe travels, and hope you have a great week in Spain! It’s been cold here and I’m ready for spring too.
Nice Outlander post, that was fun to read and you did a great job! Very well written, looking forward to your future installments. Take care and have a good week. 🙂
Thanks, Greg. Even if it’s winter here, too, the weather is a bit milder and we’re by the sea. The village where we have our apartment is practically deserted, though, since a lot of the people who live here work in the tourist industry, and tourists don’t usually start arriving until Easter.
I’m glad you enjoyed my Outlander Post 🙂
Oh… your life sounds so decadent Lexxie – in terms of the travel I mean… cos I know you’re working and studying. Of course here in Australia we’re so far from anywhere, that a trip to another country requires a big effort (Though you can get to New Zealand or Bali in Indonesia for less than / about $500 each way!)
I hope the weather in Spain is great and you have a lovely time!
I think the traveling is in part thanks to the fact that we live in the middle of Europe, Deborah, and to come here to Spain, it’s only a seven-hour drive, and we’ve arrived. I don’t think I’d be able to travel as much to other countries if I lived in Australia or in the US.
The weather here is much better than at home, even if it is quite chilly. It’s just nice to be by the sea and have a change in scenery 🙂
I hope you have a great time in Spain Lexxie! Travel safely!
Thanks, Laura. I always have a great time here, even when it’s cool and windy 😀
a teacher work never ends! at school and then many times at home correcting and grading the work of the students! Glad your students did mostly well 🙂 good luck to Mr. Lex at the hockey tournament! Spain??? OMG I love Spain! hope you guys have fun. 🙂
oh.. I want to check Lola’s Do You Beta-read?! Thanks for sharing
True, there’s always something to do, Daniela. It’s mostly good, though, and I really enjoy correcting tests when the results are good 🙂
I love Spain, too, and even in the winter when we can’t really lounge on the beach, it’s nice to be by the sea.
OMG.. Spain! I’m so jealous.. I just read a book that took place in Spain.. I love the sound of that country. And warmer definitely sounds great!
And congrats on seeing good results on your tests. That must be a great feeling!
Have a great trip to Spain! 😉
It’s a great country. We’re all up in the north, but it’s so nice to be by the sea, and to have some relaxing days.
I hope you have a great vacation! I have never left the USA but Spain sounds amazing! And don’t you just love it when your students ‘get it’ and you know your teaching is effective?! Enjoy your time in Spain!
I don’t go to the USA very often, but Spain is close to home for me 🙂
Yes, I love it when my students get it, it’s so rewarding!
I hope you have an amazing time in Spain! We’re sitting in the low double digits right now, so I’m totally jealous of your trip, even if it is chilly there. It’s gotta be better than here. 🙂
True, it’s nicer here than at home in Geneva, and it’s great to be by the sea 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Kim.
Lexxie,
Looks like you’ve had a amazing week even if the weather can’t figure out what it wants to do. Thankfully it’s been warm here which makes me a little worried how hot the summer will be. It’s so rewarding finding out that they do listen to you, English was always my favorite class in school. I think it’s amazing that your going to do a little traveling. I hope you have an amazing week because it looks like a good one. Happy reading!
Hopefully, the weather will sort itself out by the time we get back home before the weekend 🙂
It’s great when I can see that my students are progressing, but they find English hard (it’s their third language learnt in school, and many of them have a different native language than French, too) sometimes.
Thanks for stopping by, Mandy.
That’s great most of the tests you corrected so far the students did well. That must be nice to see they understand what you tought them :). I hope you’ll enjoy your time in Spain! A change of scenery is always nice. We had chilly weather, some rain and wind, but no snow. We also had one sunny day this week, so yes all over the place describes the weather here well too. Thanks for linking to my post about beta reading! I hope you’ll have a great week!
A change of scenery is awesome, Lola. It’s quite chilly here as well, but it’s sunny, and the sea is very close. I hope you’re having a great week 🙂
Enjoy your winter vacation! I have to say that I am a bit jealous. I am glad to hear that your students did well on their test. It is such a good feeling to know that what you have taught them has really sunk in. Have a great week!
🙂 We always get a full week off in February, then also 10 days off around Easter. It’s a nice break in the long spring semester!
It’s awesome when my students show me that I don’t talk just to myself when we’re in class together 😉
I can’t imagine the frustration of seeing bad grades from a teacher’s perspective. Glad your students did well on the test.
Hope you have a great trip to Spain! I am really looking forward to spring too.
I think it can be both frustrating and eye-opening! If most of my students did poorly, I would definitely have to change something in my approach to teaching, you know?
So far, Spain is treating us very well 🙂
Enjoy your trip! How nice to have a week’s getaway. My son and DIL, who live in Prague now, enjoy trips to Spain. They had their honeymoon there a couple of years ago.
I hope to rejoin Thirsty Thursdays, as I love that event…but my books lately haven’t had much in the way of “food” items…lol.
Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
I hope you’ll find some food or drinks in your books this week, Laurel-Rain, I’ve missed you on TTHH lately 🙂
Changing the scenery can be just as important as the actual time off for me, looking out of the window and seeing the sea is wonderful 🙂
I hope you have tons of fun in Spain! Also, thank you so much for featuring my post 🙂
Thanks, Molly! And you’re welcome 🙂 Have a great week!

Enjoy your Winter vacation!
Thanks Lekeisha 🙂
Your weather sounds a lot like mine. And a trip to Spain sounds wonderful Have a fantastic time, Lexxie!
I hope the weird weather will stop soon, so I can cycle to work and Uni!
Thanks for stopping by, Laura.
Have a blast in Spain! 🙂
Thanks, Stephanie 🙂
I hope you and #3 and #4 are safely ensconced by the sea by now and are enjoying it!! 🙂 We are enjoying a day off together although the kids do have winter music rehearsals this afternoon. But for now, we’re enjoying some time together since James took off today. I understand weird weather. We’ve had lots of snow, as you know. Now we’re having warm temps and very high winds! We lost a tree Saturday night…luckily it didn’t fall towards our home, which is what we’d been worrying about.
Enjoy your time away, my dear! Hopefully we can chat – I have a few things to catch you up on. 😉 And I’m sure you do as well. I’m enjoying Me Before You, by the way, even if it’s an emotional read. **BIG HUGS**
p.s. Thanks for the shout-out! <3
The beach isn’t open for us… they are doing some kind of work there, and there are huge sand mountains and trucks everywhere 🙁 We’re still close to the sea, though, and it’s really nice to be here!
*BIG HUGS*
Wonderful news! I’ happy to hear your students are doing well in your class. Enjoy your time in Spain!
I’m really happy about that, too, Xyra!

Spain for vacation just sounds wonderful to me. I know I will never make it to Europe but always wanted to. I am jealous of your ability to go to other countries all the time.I am glad your students are doing well with your teaching methods-always nice to be validated! Hope you have a wonderful time in Spain 🙂
We’re definitely very lucky to have so many different countries close by, Lorna 🙂 And we love taking advantage of that!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you’re having fun in Spain. Without me. 🙁
It’s nice, Christy, even if it could have been better if you were here with me 😉
I hope you enjoy your holiday! It sounds like a lovely winter escape 🙂 good luck to Mr Lex too! It should be good fun 😀 it’s excellent news about your students 🙂 I’m glad your classes have done so well.
Have a fantastic week,
Amy x
Thanks, Amy 🙂 Spain is always amazing to me, we plan on retiring here… even if we’ll have to wait quite a while first.
How nice that your students are doing well. I liked Fighting Dirty too. Have a great trip.
Thanks, Nise’ 🙂
Oh my gosh that holiday by the sea sounds absolutely perfect! I hope you enjoy your vacation Lexxie, it is definitely well deserved!
Thanks, Jeann! It’s really nice to get away from everything ‘normal’ at home, and just spend some time away!
Pee Wee hockey? How cute!! My brother did Pee Wee soccer but that was 20 yrs ago-LOL. My dad was a major hockey fan, so I watched alot of Penguin games (from Pittsburgh!!)So I wish you lots of luck with that!! I have read one book by Lori Foster, and there are just so many new ones I want to read!!Also I have a weekly meme called Wishlist Winning Wednesday, hope you will stop by!!
Glad to see you students are doing well! I hope you enjoyed the beach, despite the weather!
I have always wanted to go to Spain. If things in the US keep going downhill, I have considered becoming an ex pat and moving to Spain.
The weather here keeps being at odds, and I wind up very hot later in the day. I’m all kinds of hot mess. I have had to stop taking my 3 allergy medications and I’m itchy, scratchy and my ears have really started bugging me. Good thing my audiologist and allergist visit are conveniently scheduled for the same day next week!
I do not want spring to come, because I haven’t had my fill of cold weather. We haven’t even had any snow here. GRRR!
We’ve had plenty of cold, and plenty of grey as well… I’m ready for some sunshine and colors now 🙂
