The Sunday Post #66 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere. This week the weather has been weird, either it has been snowing – big, fat, wet flakes – or it’s been sunny but cold. I really enjoy winter when we get some snow, and seeing the sun again after weeks of rain is definitely refreshing!

I’m pretty exhausted after my first week back to work, even if my two classes have mostly really sweet students, and they are calm and attentive. My own kids are tired, too, it was hard to get up early and get ready in just a short time in the morning, but hopefully, we’ve all caught the right rhythm now for the following weeks.

I’ve been able to do some coloring this week, too, while listening to an audiobook, and I really enjoy my mandala book of coloring  – what do you think?

And I’m going to do something I don’t normally do today… I’m going to pimp a book, actually. I’m a huge Michelle Mankin fan, I love her Tempest series, which is NA romance with rock stars. Who doesn’t love those, right? Now, she’s made a stand-alone spin-off serial featuring more mature characters, Anna is 41, and Johnny is in his thirties, and their romance is absolutely sizzling. All three parts of the serial have been released, and cost only $0.99 each. Find Me is the first story, and I can’t recommend it enough.

What have you been up to this past week? Don’t forget to leave me a link so I can come visit your Sunday Post as well.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. I love your coloring page! I haven’t touched mine since Christmas. Things are getting so busy! I also struggled (heavily) with getting up early to get ready for school. I have got to work on getting up at a fixed time and not hitting the snooze button!

    • For me, this was the very first week back, Daniela, hopefully, I’ll catch the right rhythm soon, as it will be a busy semester.
It’s really nice to color while I listen to an audiobook, it keeps my mind on what I’m listening to, while I also feel a little creative 😀

  2. I loved Dirty English! I can’t wait for the next book! That was the first Ilsa Madden-Mills book I have read and loved it! I have been coloring more too. Never thought I would enjoy it so much but its awesome!

  3. I really love your mandala. It looks very good. I’ve always wanted to color mandala’s or use those new and hip coloring books. Still haven’t been able to get one though.
I have been working, and I went to the movies and shopping in Amsterdam. Tonight and tomorrow is reading time for me. I’m not going to do anything but read! 😀
    Have a great week 😉

  4. We’ve had a weird winter too. Christmas it had stayed in the 50-60’s Fahrenheit (10-15C). Now it is frequently in the single digits (-10-13C). It came quickly, which is making it hard for me to bear. Normally, I don’t have issues with the cold, but it is bothering me this year.

I haven’t been around much this week because of craziness at work. I’m hoping it will be less crazy this week.

    • Yeah, it’s gotten a lot colder here, too, so I won’t be able to cycle to work this week – I’m too afraid of falling and breaking my legs! For the first time in ages, I’ve had to turn up the heat inside our house, so I get what you mean, Melanie.
I hope your week will be much calmer 🙂

  5. The kids have been the worst to get up for school. They moaned a lot and asked for the weekend. lol
It will all fall into place soon and then it’s summer vacation. These years really need to slow down 😉

I am so excited I won Find Me, I have been having a slight genre mood switch and looking for something more intense to read or more adult. So I think this one will be perfect 🙂

Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox

    • LOL, are you looking forward to the summer vacation already, Michelle? I hope you’ll enjoy Find Me as much as I did – it’s so nice to read romance with more mature characters, it makes me think older is sexy, too 😉
      Have a great week yourself.

  6. That coloring page you did looks fantastic! Are you using Prismacolor markers on it?

And I’m definitely going to check-out Michelle Mankin. I love rock star romances so I’m going to start with her NA books I think. 😀

    • For this coloring page, I used Caran d’Ache color pencils, they are so smooth, and I have a much bigger selection of colors than I have in pens and markers. I am going to look for more pens when I go to the US in May 🙂
I hope you’ll enjoy Michelle Mankin’s books, I really enjoy her writing, and her characters are very realistic – even if they are rockstars!

  7. I really need to get myself a coloring book! It sounds so relaxing and something I would enjoy doing it. I like the idea of listening to an audiobook at the same time too!
Sorry about the week being a bit rough though. Hopefully you can get adjusted real soon.
Happy reading and have a lovely week!

  8. Very pretty coloring page! I like coloring while listening to audio books too. It is very relaxing. I hope this week is much better for you. My mom is a teacher and it is hard for her to get back into the swing of things after Christmas break too. The cold weather certainly doesn’t help! I wish I could wake up and it would be spring.

    • We actually iron stuff, still… My husband wears shirts when he has meetings, and they definitely need to be ironed. And the coloring is so nice and relaxing! I’m not very artistic on my own, so being able to still make something beautiful by adding colors is awesome.
      Have a fantastic week, Laurel-Rain!

  9. That mandala you coloured looks awesome! Did you colour the backgroudn or was it that colour already? I am prety tired too after this week, it was quite the busy week.
Here it’s been colder, but no snow yet where I live, other parts of the country did get some snow.
I really liked that post by Anna from herding cats about 5 star ratings. Sometimes a book just doens’t feel like a 5 star even if there’s nothing wrong with it. Have a great week Lexie!

    • The background was already that color – I think that’s one of the things I prefer about that book, it looks really nice to not have the white background like most other coloring books have.
We got snow, but it’s almost all melted again, even if it’s very cold now.
      Thanks for stopping by, Lola.

  10. It feels like ages since I was took time out to color. I feel like there’s always something else that must get done. Maybe I will use my daughter as an excuse this weekend and we can color together in one of my books. 🙂 It’s always hard getting back into the regular routine after a long break, isn’t it? I hope you have a great week!

    • Yes, it is strangely addictive, but so nice. We are due to get quite a bit of snow during the night… I hope it won’t be too much, because people in Geneva really aren’t very good at driving when there’s snow on the raod.
      Happy reading.

  11. great coloring page you have there!! I do need to try out mandala’s soon. Our weather has been like yours. Either cold and sunny….or wet and snow. Love the unpredictability in the winter time.

  12. I love your coloring! I got some new coloring books at Christmas but I haven’t had time to color. It does sound relaxing while listening to an audiobook or music. I’m still having a hard time getting back to normal schedule. I’ve been really tired from work so I’m always hitting the snooze button. I hope you have a great week!

  13. Oh my god, did you colour that Mandala Lexxie? It’s amazing!

I’ve been reading about weird weather in other wintery parts of the globe as well, so mother nature is having some fun! Mind you, we’ve had some strange weather in our summer. Down south (Melbourne) they had a 43C day and the next was 19C. So perhaps Australia is copping it as well!

  14. I have a coloring book that I really need to work on!! One of my local libraries had an adult coloring night and I did a page there and loved how it turned out! Coloring is fun. haha

Hope you have a nice week. Glad your classes have some good kids. And yeah, getting up early after breaks an all that is tough!

  15. We got some big old fat flakes this week too, quite the snowstorm early in the week. then it melted some- just in time for us to get more!Hope your week is good.

Those coloring books look great, I’ve seen some of those and the designs are quite intricate!

  16. Hi! I love your picture! I received a coloring book and colored pencils for my birthday this week and started one of the pages. Personally, I find the colored pencils frustrating; however, I love how you used them for your picture and can see how they might be an asset. Since there is no right or wrong way to color, mixing in crayon and markers will be in my future. Thank you very much for sharing your work and your reviews and recommendations. Have a great week!

    • Depending on the coloring book, pens would bleed through the pages, and I would hate that, Xyra… Also, these pencils are so nice and smooth!
I don’t have enough different colors for my markers / pens, though, and I love being able to use several different shades of colors when I’m doing this.

      • I see what you are saying about the bleed through. I haven’t tried yet, but Crayola markers don’t usually bleed through unless the paper is thin, and there are a lot of different shades to use. I can’t see an entire picture in marker/pen, just certain spaces. Using marker, crayon, and pencil creates different textures of color – not like shading – kind of like a mixed media project. 🙂

  17. Your coloring page looks amazing! I haven’t done any since early December. I was away for a month and didn’t take it with me, and I haven’t gotten back to it since I got home.

The weather’s been weird here, too. It’s bitterly cold today, but last week we had a few warmish days in the low 50s. It’s been hard to get back into the swing of things now that I’m home, especially since I’m turning around and heading out west again on Wednesday for a week. Oh, well, things will settle back into normalcy eventually!

  18. I hope you and your family have gotten back into the groove, Lexxie. I know how hard it is and my kids had a holiday today (MLK) so it’s been really difficult getting into a routine for them. I’m glad it seems like your classes and students are going to be pleasant. And I’m glad you’re enjoying coloring! Your coloring page is lovely!
I hope you enjoyed your Monday! **BIG HUGS**

    • Yes, we’re back into the groove (thanks for putting Madonna in my head, btw), everybody is back in the right rhythm once more 🙂 My students are still very sweet, hopefully, they will continue to be this way for the rest of the school year 😀

  19. We have only had a couple of days of spitting snow and about half an inch last night. But tomorrow we are getting a blizzard which is my first since I moved here just a few years ago. Of course, I am a nervous wreck cause I really don’t want to lose power! I love your coloring-I saw it on your instagram, I think and I didn’t realize it was colored because it was too good! Have a good week and stay warm!
