The Sunday Post #86 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

So, I taught my last class of the year, which was kind of bitter-sweet. I really had two great classes, and it was sad to say goodbye – especially because I probably won’t be teaching in the same school next year. It was sweet, too, though, because it means I’m soon off for the whole summer…

I’m ready for my oral exam tomorrow, on Communication in Foreign Language Teaching, and I’m glad it’s my one and only exam this session. I hope I’ll get a good, juicy question about context and social appropriateness 😀 Here’s how my binder looks now that I’ve made connections between the various articles, with the different perspectives the authors have shared.

On Thursday, Mr. Lex and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. We went out for a very nice dinner, and had a fantastic, romantic night. It’s really weird to me to think that we’ve been married for that long – because it kind of makes me think we were kids when we got married (which we weren’t…).

Yes, I am also very pregnant here, as our first child was born about six weeks after we got married. We’re both feeling out our hands with our new rings here 😉

  1. When I taught, I was always as excited as the children for summer break. 🙂 Good luck on your exam.

Oh, and 21 years!!! Happy Anniversary. Love seeing your picture. Fun to go back and look and gasp. I sometimes feel like I’m looking at someone else when I see an old picture of me. Ha!

    Have a good week, Lexxie!

  2. It does sound like it’d be bittersweet teaching your last class of the year, especially if it might be your last year at that school, but I’m sure there will be great things to come! And good luck on your exam!

Happy Anniversary, 21 years is fantastic! And awww Freddy <3 When are they going to invent teleportation machines? You could just pass him around to all of us bloggers whenever we need a cuddle lol.

    • That’s the thing when substitute teaching – never know where I’ll end up next. Hopefully, I’ll be lucky enough to find something for most of the school-year, at a school very close to my house 🙂
I would love to have a teleportation machine! I’d stop by your house with Freddy, we’d have a coffee or tea, you could cuddle Freddy while we chatted about books 😀

  3. Happy anniversary, good for you guys! And good luck with your exam! I can see where it would be hard to say goodbye to that last class, but at least you have the summer to look forward to. Hope you have a wonderful week.

  4. Happy Anniversary!!! Sorry about your classes ending – the ones you taught, I mean. As for your exam, I hope it goes well. Best of luck to you!! It’s almost over!

    -Lauren

  5. Happy anniversary! I love that photo! I marvel all the time when I look at my parents’ wedding photos. I finished classes and will be enjoying summer with you! I miss, but also don’t miss, marking up texts like that. Have a great week!

  6. Happy Anniversary!! We will be married 29 years in April and we were kiddos. I was only 21 🙂 Good luck with the exam. I am sure saying goodbye to the kiddos was bitter sweet! Enjoy your summer 🙂

  7. 21 years! That’s amazing! Congrats to you and your husband. 🙂 Your binder looks like hard work and fun. I don’t know why, but I love highlighting. I don’t know if I’m the only one, but that might just be my little quirk. 🙂

  8. Oh… holidays coming up! That sounds great.

But – good luck with your exam and you hope you get the question you want!

And.. happy belated anniversary. Love that pic of you both!

  9. I am going to be so sad next year when the group I have worked with for 4 years graduates! I am going to miss them so much, so I know exactly how you feel!
Good luck with your exam-I know the stress that comes with that kind stuff so I hope it goes well!
Freddy is too cute! I love getting a weekly pic of his adorable-ness!

  10. Oh my, four years is a long time, so I totally get that it’s going to be very hard to say goodbye. Here, we usually only have the same students for a year or two anyway, but if I’d be in the same school as them, I’d still see them around, you know?
Thanks 🙂 I’m well prepared, so I should do OK. And I’m glad some Freddy cute-ness is good for your soul as well as mine 🙂

  11. Happy Anniversary!!! And you’re too young to have a 21 year old kid!!! I always pictured you with little ones!!! You and the hubs are soooooo adorable… ha, shackled by the rings! 🙂

And break a leg with your exam!! I’m sure you’ll do fabulous, whatever question you get!!!!! How can you not, you’re so prepared!!!!!! I’m crossing my fingers for ya!

    • Ha! I’m not, really though – my daughter is 21 in just a month 😀 But thank you 😉 With four kids, I do have one who’s still kind of little, even if she’s not really anymore either 😉
      Thank you!
Have a great week ahead, Kristin! <3

  12. I hope you have a great summer vacation, but I can imagine teaching your last class of the year is bittersweet. good luck with your exam! Your binder sure looks colourfull ;). And congrats on your 21st wedding anniversary!
I am always looking forward to the Freddy pictures each week, he’s so cute! It reminds me of when we had rats and all the pictures I ever shared in my Sunday posts where of them. I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • I’m pretty sure my summer vacation is going to be a blast, Lola 🙂 It’s always nice to be able to do other things.
Freddy is too cute not to be shared 😀 And I used to love the pictures you shared of your rats 🙂

  13. 21 years! That’s awesome! We just hit our 10 year wedding anniversary and it’s crazy it’s been that long!

Good luck on your exam! Also, I’m going to read your Let’s Talk About Sex post! I had a series of posts on my adult blog about sex so I am curious about that!

It really is bittersweet teaching that last class isn’t it? I felt the same way, especially since i hope I won’t be at the school next year, which means I’m less likely to see these kiddos again 🙁

Good luck on your exam, you sure look ready! And congrats on the wedding anniversary – 21 years! We just celebrated 11 last month and that feels like forever, so I can only imagine what 21 feels like lol! Have a great week Lexxie (btw, Freddy is so adorable, I may have to add a Buffy pics of the week to my posts) !

    • Yeah, last class is kind of weird. My kids are much older than yours, though, I’m sure you are even more attached to your students than I have been.
Hehe, 21 does kind of feel like forever, it’s most of my adult life, for sure.

  15. Congrats on your 21 years! I don’t know many people who have been married for a number of years. My younger brother has made it to 40 years, though, and they’ve faced some serious challenges.

You two look cute in your vow-exchanging photo.

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  16. Hurray for the end of the school year and good luck on your exam! AND congrats on your anniversary! That’s amazing! I love your little weenie dog so much! What a cutie! Have a great week 😀

    • You’re absolutely right, Laura 🙂 I will be seeing fresh new faces in the next school year 🙂 Now my nostalgic feelings are much, much better.
I will aim for a video of Mr. Freddy next Sunday for your pleasure 😉

  17. Good luck on the exam. I love languages and have seriously considered learning a third one. Maybe something less boring than the English & Spanish I can speak now. I would love to find a job where learning another language was required, since it would give me additional justification for spending the time.

    • I love languages, too! I speak three fluently, and one I can get by on. I would love to learn more as well, and once I finish Uni, I think I’ll find myself a sign language class.
I hope you’ll be able to find the motivation to learn more as well!

  18. Good luck on your exam today!! I have my fingers crossed for a juicy question – and I know you’ll do well!! Congrats on finishing up teaching for the year AND on 21 years of marriage. It’s quite an accomplishment we’ve both made. 😉 And I giggled over us not being kids when we got married…I kinda feel like we were! LOL Freddy is getting so big now. But I love that he can still curl up into a ball on your lap. What a sweetie! Thanks for the shout-out and keep an eye out for those books & best friends posts…it’s a month-long feature! 😀
I’m missing you fiercely today wifey! I hope we can chat soon. We leave for Dallas on Thursday.
    **BIG HUGS** <3 <3

    • I got the question I wanted to get – where I had links to all the other articles we had read during the semester. Now, I just have to hope my professor agrees with what I had to say about it all.
He can just curl up in a ball on my lap – I need to get a bigger lap, actually if we’re to keep that up.
I’ll be looking for you in chat today as well. Miss you lots, wifey! *BIG HUGS*

Happy 21st anniversary to you and your husband! Love your fur baby pics. My male cat didn’t come home, and it’s been weeks now so I have lost hope. On the plus side, we found nice homes for the puppies, and my other cat is pregnant! God, help me. I’m excited though because I’m going to keep at least 2 of them.

  20. Happy anniversary! Freddy is so cute, I love the curled up picture. I am so looking forward to summer vacation. I am looking forward to sleeping in (hopefully) on any given day off. I am wired to awaken at 0530 everyday, even on my days off just to get the kids ready for school.

  21. Wow! 21 years married is awesome! Congrats!
Wow… teaching is over for the year… time has flown. Good luck in you exam!
