The Sunday Post #82 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

Right now, I’m so excited I can hardly keep still! Tomorrow morning, I’m boarding my plane for Chicago by way of London, and I just can’t wait to meet up with authors and fellow bloggers in the windy city! I won’t be around the blog too much next week, and the only scheduled posts I have is my Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts and a blogtour review – if you want to see what I’m up to at BEA, it would be easier to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, as I’ll be sharing pictures and comments there – more or less live.

If you’re going to BEA as well, I hope we’ll be able to meet up! I’m co-hosting one of the round tables at the Book Con on Wednesday afternoon, Katie @ Mundie Moms and I will be talking about balance between personal life and blogging, online and offline, and how we make room for blogging in our busy lives.

On Thursday, we had a day off, and because the weather was nice, we had a bunch of friends over for a barbecue and fun. It was so nice to spend the day with them – it’s been way too long since we had time to do something like that. And finally, we’ve had some really nice weather, too! I’ve been wearing shorts and t-shirts, barefoot in the garden and it feels like heaven!

I also found out on Wednesday that in order to have the right to apply for my pedagogy studies, I have to have my Masters completely finished by June… And I haven’t started writing my MA paper yet – and it has to be a 90 page research paper, so now I have to hurry up and get it done. I don’t want to have to wait another year before I can start, I want to finish my studies and just teach now, you know? Please wish me luck.

  1. How exciting that you’ll be at BEA! Look forward to your Insta and Twitter posts.

Nice that you had lovely weather and a BBQ. Cute pics of Freddie!

    Have a good week, Lexxie!

  2. I’m glad the weather’s improving Lexxie. Ours isn’t getting much cooler yet.

I am so envious of you heading to BEA. It’s not the BEA thing but the meeting of other bloggers – people I catch up with every week via the Sunday Post.

I want pictures! Lots of them! Happy travels!

    • Yeah, the weather is so nice – it’s not too hot yet, it’s just perfect!

I agree, that’s the main reason why I’m so excited about BEA – it’s the other bloggers! The ones I chat with online every week, and now, I’ll be able to squee with them in person 🙂 There will be lots of pictures, Deborah!!

  3. Jennifer (Bad Bird Reads)

Oh jeeze, that’s a lot of writing to get done. Good luck. BBQ’s are always fun!

  4. Good luck with your paper! Hope that all goes smoothly. And enjoy BEA- Chicago’s not too far away from me but I couldn’t make it this year, but it wil be fun to see all the pics and Twitter stuff. Chicago’s fun. 🙂

  5. Have fun at BEA!!!

It sounds like you had a nice week with the BBQ and the warm weather 🙂 But yikes about that paper. 90 pages is a lot, but you’re a blogger! And a reader! So psh, you got this, you can write in your sleep 😉 Good luck with it though 🙂

  6. I hope you have a wonderful time at BEA! So exciting. I don’t imagine I will ever make it to a BEA, but I wouldn’t mind attending one of the mystery conventions–especially Left Coast Crime if it ever comes near me again. Hopefully it will. Pretty please. Your weather sounds perfect! It’s been wet and stormy here–not that I mind. We need the rain. Good luck with your paper! I am sure you will be able to get it all done in time, but I know you must be looking forward to being on the other side of it. Freddy is so cute! It make me want a dog. Have a great week!

    • Oh mystery conventions? That sounds like fun, for sure. Our weather is so, so nice now. It’s warm, but not hot – so it’s so nice outside. And we had a lot of rain recently, so everything is just green and so lush.
I definitely look forward to being on the other side of it.
He’s the cutest dog ever, and I’m wondering how come we waited for over twenty years before we got one 😉

  7. Wow.. Have a great time at BEA Lexxie. It sounds amazing and I’ll definitely check out your posts on Social Media.
I’m glad to hear the weather is better. Here the weather is also great.. Sigh.. I wish it could be like this all the time.
Good luck with your MA Paper. You can do it!! 😉
Have a great week and Happy Reading!

    • I’m so excited, Maureen! I can’t wait to spend some time with fellow bloggers offline and in real life 🙂
I wish the weather could be this great all the time, too – it could just rain during the night 😀
Thank you! I hope I can not only do it – but that I can do it well 🙂

  8. Have fun at BEA! And I know you will be able to get that paper done for school! We teachers are a determined lot and I know you can do it!
Freddy is just adorable! Too stinking cute! Have a great week!

    • True, we are a determined lot. I just also want to do it very well 😀 I’m very passionate about my subject, and I want more teachers to pay attention to it 🙂
I don’t know how I’ll survive a week without Freddy, my kids and the hubby, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be so busy time will fly.

  9. I didn’t know you were hosting something at BEA. Now I am really excited to meet you, since it won’t be a random chance encounter, (i know right where you will be, hehe). I have a few posts scheduled for next week. I think it is he following week that my blog will really suffer.

    • LOL I’m doing all of the author breakfasts and teas, too, Karen, so we’ll meet more than once 🙂 I didn’t want to schedule too much for next week, as I won’t be around to comment back, but the week after is full already 🙂 And I’m sure that no matter which week we have less posts, it will still be OK.

    • Thanks, Grace 🙂 I have written down quite a few key-points I want to talk about, so I’m sure it’ll be fine.
Thank you! I know I can do it – it’s just going to be very, very busy 🙂
      Have a great week yourself.

  10. I wish I was going to BEA so that I could see you again. I’m sure we will meet up at a con again soon. I’ll be following along on Twitter. A 90 page page sound daunting, but I’m sure you can do it, but don’t think about that until you get home from Chicago. Freddy is as adorable as ever. 🙂

    • I wish you were going to BEA, too, Melanie! I had such a great time getting to know you last year in Dallas! I’m planning on going to Atlanta next year, and who knows where else in the future. I’m sure we’ll be meeting each other again, too.
Yes, I’m sure I can do it, too – and you’re right, I’m not going to think about it while I’m in Chicago.
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  11. How exciting to go to BEA!! I wish I were doing this year. I hope you have a great time and I look forward to hearing how everything went 🙂 And good luck with your paper!

  12. EEEEEP!!! I’ll be at BEA this coming week too!! I’m hoping we meet!! Feel like I’ve been following you for ages Lexie! Was upset I had to miss RT this last time, because I love meeting my blogger friends in real life!! Hope to see you there!!

    • Woot!! That’s awesome, Jessica! I’m doing all of the author breakfast and tea things, plus I’ll be at bloggercon. I’ll be stalking your twitter to see what you’re up to and when 🙂
I didn’t do RT this year, because I didn’t really feel like going to Vegas, so I decided on BEA instead 🙂

  13. I hope you have an amazing time at BEA! It sounds so fun to be able to meet blogger friends and authors.

We also had nice warm weather here. I already noticed a few people in the neighborhood barbecued. We visited my boyfriend his parent yesterday and they had sun in their garden and it was nice to sit outside in the sun. And we got an ice cream the day before that ad took a walk as the weather was so nice.

I hope your can get your thesis done in time, it would be a shame if you had to do another year for it. Looks like Freddy is happy with the nice weather as well, he’s adorable! I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • I’m so excited about it Lola! I had so much fun last time I went to a book con, where I met some of my fellow bloggers who are going to be at BEA next week. And it’s so nice to chat about books with people in real life 🙂

I’m glad you’ve had nicer weather too, isn’t it just so liberating to wear a t-shirt, and go for a slow walk and enjoy the sunshine?

Freddy loves the warmer weather, the deck has become his favorite place 🙂 Have a great week yourself.

  14. Oh, have fun at BEA! I want to go someday (again); I went in 2008, when it was in LA…but I didn’t really get the benefit from it that I would now. I wasn’t blogging then, for one thing. Now I could do it right! LOL.

Good luck on your paper….I’m sure you’ll make it happen.

Your weather does sound lovely…we’ve had some good days, too. I’ll bet Chicago isn’t quite as nice…but then again, maybe it will be.

Enjoy! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

    • I’m sure it will be a lot of fun, Laurel-Rain. And I do hope you’ll be able to go once more in the future 🙂
Thank you! I’m sure I’ll make it happen, too! I want to finish my MA so I continue and finalize my education now.
Chicago isn’t supposed to be nice at all – but I guess I’ll be spending quite a bit of time inside anyway.

  15. I hope you have a wonderful time at BEA and best of luck with your paper! Fingers crossed that you get it done in time.

    Your dog is adorable 🙂

  16. BEA sounds like a lot of fun! I am only a couple of hours away and really wish that I could check it out but I only get a limited amount of time off from work. Freddy is so darn cute! I am sure that you will be able to speed through your 90 page paper. I know exactly what you mean about just wanting to be done. Enjoy your week!

    • I only got time off work because I had my trip planned already before I signed my contract… I need to make sure I do this all the time – until I get a fixed contract and stay in the same school once I finish my education 😀
I hope you’re right, Carole, and that I’ll speed through my paper and finish it before June 🙂

  17. Oh, I’m so jealous – BEA will be amazing, and also I’d really love a barbecue right now. Two of my favourite things – bookishness and food… 🙂
Good luck with the paper! That sounds a bit stressful, but you can do it! I’m crossing my fingers for you!
Puppy Freddy is growing so fast!
I’ve got a Master’s dissertation to work on as well, so that’s basically my job now. Yay for us studious bookworms 🙂

    • Books and food are two of my favourite things, too, Annika! I’m sure BEA will be amazing, too – I can’t wait to spend time with some fellow bloggers.
Thanks for your confidence in me! I know what you mean – it is basically a job to write a paper like that.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  18. You can totally put Freddy in your carry-on bag 🙂
Good Luck with the paper! I can’t even imagine writing a 90 page paper. I am having a panic attack just thinking about it!
    Have a great week, Lexxie!
OMG I WILL SEE YOU ON WEDNESDAY!!!! I can’t wait 🙂

  19. It sounds like a great week with the better weather – ours has dramatically improved also. Have a wonderful time at the BEA and all the best with getting your paper written.

  20. I’M SO EXCITED TO MEET YOU!!!! I’ll be there Wednesday night, so I won’t make it to Book Con or anything. I’ll be there Thursday and Friday though, and for a bit on Saturday but mostly just sight-seeing then.

    -Lauren

  21. I wish you success as you write your paper! Have a fabulous time in Chicago at BEA. Could not work it out to attend.

  22. You’re on your way…YOU’RE ON YOUR WAY! And I get to see you TOMORROW!! 😀
I’m glad your weather warmed up and you’ve been enjoying time outside and with good food and friends. Our weather is still unsettled – thunderstorms, cloudy, and cool here. Thanks for sharing the pictures of Mr. Cuteness…Freddy is certainly photogenic. 😉
You know I’m wishing you luck with your MA paper. But for just a few days, we’ll carry on as if we haven’t any cares…right?!? **BIG HUGS**

  23. Danielle Chapman

Good luch getting your MA paper done! I know you can do it! 🙂

  24. Lordy! Good luck with that massive paper. If I told my students they had a 90 page paper coming to them at some point in their lifetime, I think they’d lose it. I hope you get to it and get it done so you can move on with your teaching!

  25. Freddie is growing up so fast!! He’s still as adorable as ever though 😀 I hope you have a BLAST at BEA Lexxie and that it’s everything you wanted it to be! I wish you lots of friend meetups, lots of author meets, lots of fun and lots of books ♥ I can’t wait to hear all about your adventure! xx

  26. Ah!! I hope you have so much fun!! I would love to be there. What a long way to go for that that trip too. I just saw that Jessica from A Great Read will be there as well. Have a wonderful time! I can’t wait to see pics and hear all about it 😀

  27. I hope you all have a great time at BEA! You know I am sooooo jealous, right?
Sending lots of luck that you get your Masters completed by June!!
