STS #88 – Bought Borrowed & Bagged #38

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  you will be reading soon. Bought Borrowed & Bagged is a homage to to Barron’s Books and Baubles from Karen Marie Moning’s amazing Fever series, and is hosted by Braine over at Talk Supe. Today is the beginning of the summer-long COYER challenge, and I’m really excited about that. I hope I’ll be able to read a lot of those books that have been taking up space on my kindle for a while, and there’s also a great scavenger hunt for the duration of the challenge!

Of course, even if I already own more than enough books, I have added some more this week – if not I wouldn’t be me!

What I Bought:

Impossible cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsImpossible: The Original Trilogy (Impossible #1) – Julia Sykes

These three novellas (Monster, Traitor, and Avenger) make up the first story in the Impossible Series. It is followed by Savior (An Impossible Novel), but it can be read as a standalone.
My life was irrevocably changed that night. The night I was taken. I saved a man’s life, but at what cost to myself? Can I convince him to save me in return?
I hate him for what he’s done to me. But the longer I’m trapped with him, the harder it is to cling to that hatred. He is an enigma of a man, one who is shockingly arrogant, sweetly contrite, and frighteningly aggressive by turns. And the pain in his eyes is a mirror for my own.
The longer I remain in his grip, the more confused I become.
Is my freedom worth betraying him?
This collection includes all three Impossible novellas: Monster, Traitor, and Avenger.

Angel cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsAngel (Impossible #1.5) – Julia Sykes

I almost died that night.
And then what did I do? I assaulted and terrified the woman who had saved my life.
I told her that her life was over, that she could never leave my apartment.
But as much as I know she hates me, I can’t help being fiercely attracted to her.
I dream about taking her, about dominating her body and watching her writhe beneath me in ecstasy.
Even though the world has fucked her over, she is still innocent, vulnerable in so many ways.
I want to exploit that vulnerability and take possession of that innocence.
I want to seduce a woman who can’t escape me.
God, just how fucked up am I?

What I Bagged

Tough Love cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Tough Love (Ultimate #3) – Lori Foster

She’s playing hard to get… to win the MMA fighter of her ultimate fantasies in a sultry new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster…
Vanity Baker loves a good, clean match, but she’s not above playing a little dirty. She’s wanted Stack “The Wolf” Hannigan from day one. Seems as though the best way to corral the famously commitment-phobic fighter is to insist on keeping it casual. And her plan works—deliciously well—until Stack’s past steps out of the shadows.
Stack learned early to stay free of attachments. But with sexy, forthright Vanity, he’s the one always left wanting more. Then his troublemaking family comes back into the picture, threatening everything Stack cares about—Vanity included. Suddenly he realizes they’re much more than friends with benefits. He’s ready to go to the mat for her…but will it be in time to protect the woman who’s tamed him for good?

Thank you HQN Books and Netgalley!

  1. We’re all the same, I guess, buying more books than we’ll ever be able to read ! I tried a book ban recently aaaaaand… you’ll see how it went tomorrow in The sunday post – including one I bought after reading your review, lol 😉 Enjoy your new books !

  2. I like that you divided your trilogy for the 3 different memes. Having all 3 sitting and staring at me would make me feel extreme pressure to read them all right away. Another reason I don’t buy books. Sounds like a good series.

  3. Lexxie, did you pre-choose your books for #COYER? I haven’t 🙁 I was just hoping that I could wing it, read the book and see which of the Scavenger Hunt’s I can fit it into LOL

    My STS

    Have a great weekend!

    • Uhm… pre-choose is a big word, Angelica, but yes, I have added books to the scavenger hunt list that would work – we’ll just have to wait and see how many I’ll actually read 😉 I’m still mostly winging it, but the books on my Summer Coyer TBR shelf can all be used for the scavenger hunt…

  4. Marilyn

All your new books look pretty intense. Hope you enjoy reading them.

Thanks for stopping by my StS.:)

    • I am not sure if the whole series is about this one woman and her captor yet, as I haven’t read too much of the summaries for the books I don’t have yet – I don’t want to be spoiled for the first book 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by Tiffany.
