Stacking The Shelves #137 – Bought Borrowed & Bagged #87

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  you will be reading soon. Bought Borrowed and Bagged is a homage to to Barron’s Books and Baubles from KMM’ Fever series, and is hosted by Braine over at Talk Supe. Without further ado, here’s what I bought, borrowed or bagged this past week:

ARCs Recieved - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Bought Borrowed and Bagged Stacking the Shelves

I love that Carina Press has my e-mail address, because I have started to sometimes receive unsolicited eARCs from them. This week, I got six – and of course the fact that they’re all romance makes me swoon in advance 🙂 So thank you to Carina Press for the following titles:

Moonstruck cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsDiablo Lake: Moonstruck by Lauren Dane

In Diablo Lake, Washington, a town populated by werewolves, witches, and more, magic woven deep into the earth protects the town’s secrets from outsiders.
Katie Grady left Diablo Lake to get over a humiliating breakup; but her family needs her help, so she’s back, in a sublet right across the hall from the guy she’s lusted after for years. Jace Dooley is hotter than ever, and their friendship picks up along with massive doses of grown-up chemistry.
The very scent of Katie sharpens Jace’s canines, makes the wolf within him stir. There’s nothing more alluring to a Pack Alpha than a sexy female who is so very in charge. She won’t be coddled, but if he plays his hand just right she might be convinced to become his.
Katie presents a challenge to Jace’s wolf nature, whose chief instinct is to protect. Especially now that she’s coming into the magic that is her birthright – and suddenly Jace isn’t the only one who’s interested in Katie, or the raw power she’s just learning to use.

Enough cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsEnough (Jericho Brotherhood #1) by Jade Chandler

She wanted nothing to do with me. Well, that’s too f*cking bad.
My MC brothers call me Dare for a reason. I never back down from a challenge. And Lila was the sweetest challenge I ever faced.
From the moment she walked into my tattoo shop, she was going to end up in my bed. Tied up, moaning my name and begging for more.
Her past was a nightmare and I couldn’t guarantee her a future. But I could promise her a good time.
I didn’t know what we would turn into, let alone how hard it’d be to stay away after my selfish ass sent her packing.
Problem is, my girl is hot, so the same men I call brothers tried to claim her.
There’s not enough bourbon in the world to help me forget the love we shared. But to get her back, to prove she’s more to me then a quick lay, I’ll have to tell her the secret I’ve been hiding from everyone.
Before she’s gone forever.

The Emperor's Arrow cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

The Emperor’s Arrow by Lauren D.M. Smith

Debut author Lauren D.M. Smith delivers an epic fantasy romance in this soaring tale of a kickass warrior and the emperor she’s honor-bound to defend
The bride candidates have been summoned. Their numbers are many, yet only one is an Amazzi warrior. Only one would give her life to protect him.
Evony of Aureline, warrior of her people, has no intention of becoming a hideous old man’s bride. Though her people have sworn their loyalty to the legendary emperor Galen, Evony knows little of courts and intrigue. It’s simply not her world.
Yet it’s on the palace training grounds where Evony’s archery skills gain her the respect of soldiers and legates alike. The emperor himself takes notice of the beautiful, ruthless warrior. In turn, the young, steely eyed Galen is nothing at all what Evony expected.
This man could very well conquer her heart. But does he feel the same?
As the rivalry among the remaining bride candidates intensifies and the plot for the throne unfolds, Evony must make a grave choice: fulfill her destiny and protect her people or follow her heart and pursue true love.
Either way, the honor of the Amazzi people and the future of the empire now rests with Evony of Aureline. For she is the Emperor’s Arrow.

No Strings Attached cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

No Strings Attached (Lexi Carmichael Mystery #8) by Julie Moffett

Oops, I did it again…
Leave it to me, Lexi Carmichael, to become a target for an elite organization of cyber criminals simply by being in the wrong place at the right time. As if I weren’t already freaking out about planning my best friend’s bachelorette party, I now have to keep my eyes peeled for people trying to kill me.
After accidentally intercepting a dangerous hack into the NSA and discovering the involvement of a foreign country in said hack, things begin to get seriously complicated. Diplomats, danger and spies, oh, my!
With Slash and my loyal friends by my side, I’m in a race against time to stop a team of sophisticated hackers on a deadly mission. My team of geeks is brilliant…but derailing an international plot for revenge will take everything we’ve got.

Person of Interest by Emery Harper (cover to come)

Just last week, I was a regular single mom and drama teacher at Peytonville Prep with a semi-normal life. The only real drama I had to deal with involved my football-coach ex and his hussy girlfriend. And maybe deciding if I should take that full-time principal/actress job at the local playhouse.
Everything changed when I discovered my boss hanging in his office. The suicide turned out to be a murder and my ex went suspiciously MIA. I tried to find some answers, but all that got me was labeled a person of interest by the attractively uptight Detective Shaw Muldoon. Not exactly the way I was hoping to interest him, if you know what I mean.
Now my life is plenty exciting, if you count a stint in jail, several attempted break-ins, more dead bodies and the odd exploding car. Did I mention I also have my own personal stalker? It’s becoming pretty clear that if I don’t unmask the killer soon, my life won’t ever be boring again…it will be over.

Waking the Bear cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsWaking the Bear (Broken Chains #1) by Kerry Adrienne

Sexy shifter passion is awakened when two unlikely lovers are challenged by secrets, danger and an unstoppable need to claim one’s mate…
For human Amy Francis, the secluded cabin in Deep Creek is the haven she needs to map out a fresh new start. She never expected her heart to be reawakened by a distraction like Griff Martin, commanding yet gentle, too ferociously sensual to ignore. It’s clear that patrolling the forest is more than a job to Griff—it’s a means of survival. But what Amy doesn’t realize is she’s reawakened the beast within him.
Griff’s dormant hunger is stirred by this intoxicating woman…and threatened by the secret she must never learn. Duty-bound to defend his bear clan against an avenging pride of lion shifters, Griff’s entire world is upended when he meets Amy. His animal need to claim his mate has taken hold, but that very desire could seal her fate as an unwitting pawn in battle.
Now, as a shifter war looms, Griff must decide between letting Amy go or following his most carnal instincts. To have her would change his life…but risk everything he knows and was born to protect.

When I was at BEA in Chicago, at the Children’s Author breakfast, I sat next to a very nice lady from Zondervan / Blink publishing, and she recently sent me the following book:

Gilt Hollow cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsGilt Hollow by Lorie Langdon

Willow Lamott’s best friend is a murderer, and no one in the small town of Gilt Hollow will let her forget it. For four long years, she’s tried to fade into the background—but none of that matters when Ashton Keller comes striding into school, fresh out of juvie and fueled by revenge. The moment their eyes meet, Willow no longer feels invisible. Drawn to the vulnerability behind Ashton’s mask of rage, she sinks deeper into his sinister world and begins to question whether he’s a villain, a savior, or both.
Ashton thought he wanted vengeance, until Willow reminded him what he’d been missing. Now he longs to clear his name and become the person she sees in him. But the closer they get to uncovering the truth, the darker the secrets become, and Ashton fears his return to Gilt Hollow will destroy everyone he loves, especially the girl he left behind.

Three Two One audiocover - (un)Conventional BookviewsThree Two One by JA Huss

Battered, barefoot, and huddled under a bookstore awning in the pouring rain, Blue only knows one thing. After fifteen months of captivity, finally… she is free.
Self-made millionaires JD and Ark are not out to save anyone when they stumble upon a wet and shivering girl one early Sunday morning. But when you sell sex for a living and salvation rings your bell… you answer the call.
After years of searching, love lifts the veil of darkness, and three people—with three very big secrets—find themselves bound together in a relationship that defies the odds.
Or does it?
Love. Lust. Sex.
This trinity might be perfection… but not everything should come in 3’s.

  1. LOL! It is sometimes fun when publishers surprise one with unexpected ARCs. A few look pretty interesting.

I got some review books this week, too, but they were expected ones. 🙂

  2. OOoh very nice!! Those are pretty much all new to me one! Though a few look familiar. Possibly from WoW day! LOL! Hope you enjoy them all!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  3. Looks like you’ll be busy with romance reads! I’m just hoping I can finally pick up a book of any genre and get reading! This slump is beyond a joke! Happy reading…

  4. I haven’t heard of any of these authors but so many look good! It’s amazing to me just how many books there are out there that I know nothing of. The Lauren Dane one especially appeals to me and oh and Gilt Hollow too!
I hope you enjoy the books! 🙂

  5. Vi @Gone With The Books

They look all great – happy reading!

    best wishes

  6. I need to read something by Huss. I hear her books are great, and even though I don’t read much in her genre, it should be fun. Need to read outside that box once in a while. LOL I see a shifter book! Haven;t read an action filled romance with some sexy shifters in a bit either. Must check my kindle, as I’m sure it’s overflowing with some. Happy reading, Lexxie. Wanted to visit as I won’t be around for the Sunday Post.

    • Oh yes, you do need to read something by Huss, Laura! Her books don’t really fit into one single genre, so you may very well enjoy them, even if some of it is outside what you usually read.
Shifter books are made of awesome, and I look forward to reading this one, too.

  7. Lekeisha

Nice haul! I’ve gotten a few books over the past weeks, so I’ll hopefully have a post next week. Planned to have one this week, but I ended up going out of town on Wednesdays night, and just now getting back.

  8. That’s awesome about Carina Press!! Receiving eARCs like that must be great 🙂 I hadn’t heard of any of these but I hope they are good. Gift Hollow looks interesting.
    Happy reading!

  9. I love that you added that qualifier – these were unsolicited – to make sure I *knew* you were keeping your promise to me, wife. 😉 And dang if I’m not envious of every single book you got this week with the exception of 321, since I purchased that one myself! 😉 I can’t wait to see what you think of these books, my dear. So I know if they need to be added to my shelves! 😀 **BIG HUGS**
