Base Instincts (Demonica #11.7) by Larissa Ione
As a Seminus demon, Raze’s life literally depends on having sex with females. The problem is that he doesn’t desire females, and it’s physically impossible for him to be with males. Thankfully, he and his best friend, Fayle, have an arrangement that keeps him alive . . . if lonely. He finds some solace in his work as a medic at Thirst, a vampire club known for its rough clientele. But his carefully structured world turns upside down when he meets a mysterious male who makes him want what he can never have.
Slake is an assassin used to getting what he wants, and what he wants is Raze. But he also wants to earn back the soul he sold when he was a much different demon. All he has to do is capture a runaway succubus named Fayle and hand her over to her family. What he doesn’t count on is being caught himself by a web of lies—and his attraction to Raze.
Raze and Slake must navigate a dangerous world to be together. But as Fayle’s jealousy of their relationship turns deadly, they find themselves embroiled in a battle not only for their love, but their lives and souls.
Down Town (The Dresden Files Graphic Novels) by Jim Butcher
Chicago wizard-for-hire Harry Dresden and his new apprentice, Molly Carpenter, intend to end the havoc caused by a mad sorcerer – one whose ambitions would have the Windy City streets carved out as his own private kingdom. But when the magical upstart enters into an alliance with the notorious mob boss “Gentleman Johnnie” Marcone, will the fast-and-loose Dresden and his young charge survive unscathed?
This graphic novel collects the critically acclaimed, six-issue series in one volume, and features a bonus section with Jim Butcher’s original story outline, sketchbook artwork from Carlos Gomez, cover gallery with roughs from Stjepan Sejic, and more!
Friction by Sawyer Bennett
At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well—until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.
Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish—in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.
Paperback bought for class:
Breath by Tim Winton
Bruce Pike can hear the sea at night and longs to go to the shore. When he befriends Loonie, his small town’s wild boy, that dream is realized. Together, intoxicated by the treacherous power of the waves and by the immortality of youth, the two boys defy all limits and rules. Pikelet learns what it is to be extraordinary, feels exhilaration for the very first time, and – caught up in love and friendship and an erotic current he cannot resist – he understands the true meaning of fear. These are experiences that will far outlast his adolescence. How, then, to mask the emptiness of leaving such intensity behind?
Breath is one of the several books I will read for a seminar named Air as a Literary Element this semester. I can’t wait to get started – the professor of the seminar always has the most interesting views on the novels we use!

I love her series, Lekeisha 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
I’ve only read the first Harry Dresden novel-while I thought it was a decent read I couldn’t help feeling it lacked something for me. However, I’m thinking of revisiting the series in the future to give it another try, once I get all my unread books tackled! Enjoy your books!
Oh, I really love that series, it’s not often I find an adult UF series with a male MC. Thanks for stopping by, Chuckles 🙂
OOh nice! Those are new to me reads but I do hope you thoroughly enjoy them all!

Sugar & Snark
Yup, I do love Netgalley! Very much 😀
I have a confession…though I own some of her books, I’ve never read Larissa Ione. *hangs head in shame* I really need to read Jim Butcher’s Dresden series. It sounds like something right up my alley. I watched as the first season aired on television, but never started the series yet.
Great haul! Happy Reading!!
Ah, if you only knew all the books I own – and by authors I haven’t read yet – that are just waiting for me to find the time to delve in, Stacey!
I haven’t watched the TV show for the Dresden Files, but I think it could be fun to do. I love Harry 😀
I didn’t know that Dresden was made into a comics, I was a bit mixed about the first book but comics is intriguing. I should tyr more. happy reading!
I didn’t know about the graphic novel, either, Melliane, but when I saw it, I couldn’t resist requesting it 🙂
I really need to read Demonica ! I don’t know what Dresden will be like as a comic, but why not ? And Tim Winton’s name is familiar, but I can’t put my finger on why… Anyway, enjoy 😉
Tim Winton is an Australian author, I hadn’t heard of him before, but I look forward to reading breath. And you definitely need to read Demonica, Iza!
Great haul! I’ve not heard of these but I hope you enjoy them. 🙂
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thanks Krystianna 🙂
I’ve seen a few of the tv episodes of The Dresden Files and read a couple from the book series. You got me curious about the graphic novel. Will check it out too.
Yeah, graphic novels are somehow different from novels, and I love it when the graphics bring characters to life 🙂
Air as a Literary Element. How interesting! I miss my fun literature classes – I took one all about Detective Fiction in college. Such a fun one! 🙂
I know, right? This professor always has the most interesting twists in his classes. Last year, he had one called Earth as a Literary Element. I wasn’t able to take that one, though, so I’m really looking forward to Air.
These are new to me but I hope you enjoy them!
