Stacking The Shelves #32 – Exams are Closing in…

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Participating in Stacking The Shelves has helped me to keep better track of books I’m adding to my huge TBR pile every week, and I think I have gotten a little better at not adding too many books every single week. Participating in this blog-hop has also introduced me to more new blogs, and some weeks, I add more books to my ‘might-read-one-day’ shelf than I should, but before I actually have the books on my kindle, nothing has been decided yet.

Next week is my last week of classes, and I have one test, one presentation as well as several papers to hand in. Just after this next week, the exam session starts, and I am starting to feel a little bit stressed out. So even if I did get some new books this week, I know I won’t be able to read them for a little while, and the blog may be pretty quiet, as I didn’t have time to schedule future posts this past week.

Netgalley ARCs:

Back to Buckhorn cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsBack to Buckhorn (Buckhorn Brothers #7) – Lori Foster

For odd-girl-out Autumn Hodge, the best thing about Buckhorn, Kentucky, was leaving it behind. And now she’s back—at least until she can nurse her mother back to health and hightail it out of there anew. But there’s one person she doesn’t mind seeing again. Garrett Hudson was one of the few who was always kind to her. Now he’s a firefighter—still one of the good guys, but with a sexy alpha charm that’s tempting her inner bad girl.
In school, Autumn was smart, witty and unafraid to be herself. Garrett fell hard back then, and he’s falling even faster now. As far as he’s concerned, there are all kinds of reasons Autumn should stick around. Her pet grooming business. Her mom. And the chance for him to prove that he can be her real-life hero in every way that matters…

Navy Seal's E-mail Order Bride cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Navy Seal’s E-mail Order Bride (The Heroes of Chance Creek #1) – Cora Seton

Mason Hall, Navy SEAL, knows all about difficult assignments, but his current mission is one for the record books. Not only must he find a wife—and get her pregnant—or forfeit the ranch his family has prized for generations, he must also convince his three brothers to marry, too—before the year is up. Who knew one city girl and three wayward brothers could put up such a fight?

Edelweiss ARCs:

In Deep cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsIn Deep – Terra Elan McVoy

Swim.
Push.
Breathe.
Swim.
Nothing else matters to Brynn as she trains her body and mind to win. Not her mediocre grades and lack of real friends at school. Not the gnawing grief over her fallen hero father. Not the strained relationship with her absent mother and clueless stepdad. In the turquoise water, swimming is an escape and her ticket to somewhere—anywhere—else. And nothing will get in her way of claiming victory.
But when the competitive streak follows Brynn out of the pool in a wickedly seductive cat-and-mouse game between herself, her wild best friend, and a hot new college swimmer, Brynn’s single-mindedness gets her in over her head, with much more than a trophy to lose.

Rock Chick Rescue cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsRock Chick Rescue (Rock Chick #2) – Kristen Ashley

Jet McAlister has a secret. Eddie Chavez has the hots for Jet (not to mention Eddie’s just plain hot). Jet has too many problems to realize that Eddie’s interested. Eddie loses patience when Jet ends her waitressing shift at a strip club with a knife at her throat. Since Eddie’s a cop, he figures he can help. Since Jet’s used to solving everyone’s problems she doesn’t want Eddie’s help.
Throw in a Dolly Parton look-alike, a gruff but lovable strip club owner, Jet’s ne’er do well father, his ne’er do well friend, Bear, Bear’s long-suffering, chain-smoking wife Lavonne and the crew from Rock Chick and you’ve got Rock Chick Rescue.
Rock Chick Rescue takes you on a wild ride with Jet, Eddie and the gang as they wrestle bad guys in a bagel shop, hit Denver’s backstreet poker tables (with big hair), and help the strippers at Smithie’s take down a would-be murderer.
Through this, Jet’s got to learn that even when life made you give up your dreams, you can still end up with the (hot) guy. Eddie’s got to rescue Jet from a bad man (so he can do better things with her) and teach her that some dreams can come true.

Rock Chick Redemption cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsRock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick #3) – Kristen Ashley

Roxie’s on the run from a bad boyfriend who will not catch the hint that it is o-v-e-r. She’s in no mood for love at first sight, but when her eyes fall on Hank, it’s trouble from the get-go. Roxie tries to hold Hank at arms length but Hank wants to be a closer (as in, a lot closer). Roxie’s trouble catches up with her and Hank wants to help but Roxie knows in her heart that she’s no good for a white hat guy. The problem is no one agrees with her, especially her crazy hippie best friend Annette or her parents; the even crazier small-Indiana-town Herb and Trish. Toss into the mix the gang from Rock Chick and Rock Chick Rescue and Roxie finds herself totally outnumbered.
Climb in for another Rock Chick wild ride through Rock Chick Redemption. As the odds stack up against Roxie, she has no choice but to hold on and just ride it out through the kidnappings, car chases, society parties, a riot at the strip club, Hank getting “Mom Bombed” and one crazy night at the Haunted House.
During all this Hank works at convincing her she really wants to stay and he, along with the Hot Bunch, go all out to make her safe. Hank also needs to work on showing Roxie that her past decisions don’t mean her future can’t include something as downright delicious as… normal.

You should definitely check out Bookworm Brandee’s and Robgirl Books’ duel reviews for Rock Chick Redemption. They made me one click both of these Rock Chick books – I knew I wouldn’t be able to wait much longer before I started reading 😉

Remember to leave me your link so I can check out your Stacking the Shelves post, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday.

  2. Yay for Rock Chick!! I’m happy to hear you liked Indy & Lee, Lexxie. And I can’t wait to read your thoughts on Jet & Eddie AND Roxie & HANK!!!! It’ll be such a reward after finishing up your exams, dear. 😉 You picked up a few others that look good – particularly Back to Buckhorn. I’m feeling in need of a cowboy and an historical. Hopefully I can get one of each soon!

Good luck as you finish up this semester, Lexxie. I KNOW you’ll do great! I’m excited for you to finish up – both for you and for me. 🙂 I’ve missed our chats! I hope you’re having a lovely weekend. We went for a family hike today. It was great! **BIG HUGS**
