Sidekick Saturday #10 – Cocky

Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week’s type
• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment

This week, Jaclyn has chosen a side character who is cocky

OK, so I haven’t even written my review of Losing Hope yet, but I read it yesterday, finished it late last night, and totally loved it! It’s the 2nd book in Colleen Hoover’s Hopeless series, and if you’ve been to my blog before, you know I have a total author-crush on Ms. Hoover 🙂 So I am going to go with Daniel from Losing Hope. He is Holder’s best friend, and he had some really funny dialog. He hates most people, and isn’t afraid to let them know. He isn’t afraid to throw the first punch in a fight – especially if Holder is there to help him out. And he loves aggravating the mean people in their high-school – telling them straight to their face how hypocritical and stupid he finds them is no problem for Daniel.

“You underestimate the enjoyment other people gain form gossip and speculation. Just stay quiet and if anything needs to be said today, I’ll be the one to say it. I’ve been dying to yell at these people for two weeks now.”

“Hey, whisker biscuit,” Daniel says, cutting in line to stand in front of me. “Whisker biscuit?” I sight and shake my head. I swear I don’t know where he comes up with this shit. “Well, you don’t like it when I call you Hopeless. Or cunt nugget. Or piss flap. Or-” “You could just call me Holder.” “Everyone else calls you Holder, and I hate everyone else, so no, I can’t.”

Have you chosen a cocky side character for today? If yes, who is it? Please do share 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday. Here it’s raining cats and dogs, and we’re invited to a BBQ later… I hope they have some kind of heating device for outside, because it really feels more like late November than late June 🙁

  1. I haven’t read these books by Ms. Hoover yet, Lexxie, but I’m rather a fan after reading the Slammed series. Daniel sounds like quite the character and reading your quotes makes me want to sit down and read these books now. I love Ms. Hoover’s humor. 😉 Alas, I’m already into another book so these will have to wait.

Thanks for sharing, Lexxie. I can’t wait to read the review. Enjoy your day!! 🙂

    • Oh my goodness, Brandee! You haven’t read Hopeless yet? What have you been reading? You need to read these books 😀

Daniel is a great cocky character, but really, Holder and Sky are so great, it’s just amazing.

Thanks for stopping by, Brandee 🙂

  3. Wow! Your quotes seal the deal. He’s cocky alright. He sounds like the kind of guy friend I would routinely smack, even when he said something nice for a change. I haven’t read anything by this author yet, but I requested my library to purchase Slammed months ago…still waiting. Have a great weekend, Lexxie!

    • Yup, Daniel is my idea of cocky – he could even have his photo next to the word ‘cocky’ in a dictionary 😉

I hope you’ll be able to get your hands on a Colleen Hoover book soon – they are so amazing!

Thanks for stopping by today 🙂 I hope you’re having a nice vacation! *hugs*

  4. I’ve heard some great things about Hoover for sure! I haven’t read anything by her yet, but I am very interested in her books. I agree with Robyn, the quotes really seal it and show what a fit he is for this topic. Whisker Biscuit?? Who comes up with that! Hilarious 😀 I hope you are having fun at the BBQ. Have a fantastic weekend!! Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

    • :O how can you not have read a Colleen Hoover book yet? They are made of awesome! I laugh, cry, clap my hands, want to hug someone, feel like I’m bursting with joy, cry again, laugh again etc when I’m reading her! Have I not recommended her books to you? *shakes head and runs to Goodreads to click the rec button*

*hugs* We had a great time at the BBQ – it’s so nice to hang out with other Norwegians here in Switzerland – we only left when our daughter had fallen asleep on the couch, and all their kids had gone to bed already;) Nobody cared about the weather!

Thanks for stopping by, Jaclyn 🙂

    • Losing Hope is being released on July 8th… but you really should read Hopeless first, anyway 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Alisa 🙂
