Safe and Sexy #34 – The Chase

Safe and Sexy #34

Thinking of my romances and safe sex at the same time started when I wrote my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! Not too long after, the idea of sharing quotes about that ensured that the feature Safe and Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a great way to do so, and when an author includes a couple of lines to share that they are indeed using condoms, I am such a happy reader. And I think it’s sexy when both new and ‘old’ lovers show that they respect each other by getting that condom, and possibly making using it both safe & sexy, hot and fun.

If you want to participate with your very own Safe and Sexy quotes, go right ahead. The more the merrier, and maybe your quote will help me add a new book to my bloated TBR shelf 😉 One can never have enough books, right? Without further ado, here’s my Safe and Sexy quote for this week, it’s from The Chase by Elle Kennedy – and it was such a long, slow, tempting burn!

My Safe and Sexy quote:

The Chase cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Her cry of frustration triggers my laughter. “I hate you, you know that?” “No you don’t”
“I’m going to die if I don’t have an orgasm.” Her tone is grave. “Like, actually die. And then you’ll have to explain to my father how my death could’ve been prevented if only you’d finished going down on me. My father, Fitz. Is that really what you want?”
I press my lips together to fight another wave of laughter. This girl is the best. The goddamn best. “Tell you what,” I say thickly. “Why don’t we compromise?” I open the bottom drawer of my nightstand and produce a condom. “We can both come, and nobody has to die.”
“Greatest idea ever.”
She watches as I rise on my knees to suit up. I gaze down at her, and my breath catches. Her cheeks are flushed, green eyes glittering with arousal, chest heaving with every labored breath. I have never seen as sexier sight.
Her breathing gets choppier. “Why aren’t you in me?” Good question.

  1. This is a fun idea for a post. I like sexy times too but they are always better when each partner looks out fro the safety of the other – consent/condoms…etc.

    I don’t think I’ve read this one but I love Kennedy’s books.

    • Thanks Karen 🙂 I think I fall even harder for the characters when they take care of each other this way. It just shows that they are not only lovable but also respectful and responsible 🙂
This book came out earlier this month, and it’s really good!

  2. Fanning myself right now. This is a fun idea for a romance reader post. I think it’s great that the more contemporary romance writers incorporate safe sex and even birth control discussions into their love scenes. And as this excerpt clearly shows, it can still be hot.
