Review: Wicked Bite – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Wicked Bite – Rebecca Zanetti

Wicked Bite packed an even bigger punch than the four prior books in the Realm Enforcers series! Action, fights and betrayal that made my head spin. Story: I was happy to get a book where Nessa and Bear were the main characters, but I hadn’t really counted on Nessa actually going undercover. She seemed young and a bit inexperienced in the prior book, but she was very far from it. Bear was still suffering from changing too many times in the prior story, and it appeared as if his life might be in danger. There chemistry between Nessa and Bear was very strong. But neither of them really trusted the other. Wicked Bite involved a lot of the plot that […]

Review: Two Footsteps – Belle Brooks

Review: Two Footsteps – Belle Brooks

Two Footsteps was an excellent psychological thriller / suspense / mystery novella! I was completely captivated (pun intended) from start to finish. Story: A little dark, a lot tense, Two Footsteps definitely kept me at the edge of my seat. Who is the wolf? Why has he kidnapped Morgan? There are many clues around her when she wakes up, but none of them make sense to her. There is quite a bit of confusion, and suddenly, she wakes up outside. She’s hunted. And she has no idea how she’ll be able to get out of the wilderness alive. Characters: Morgan is married to Reid, they have two children. As she wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings, she knows her life is […]

Review: Wicked Kiss – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Wicked Kiss – Rebecca Zanetti

Wicked Kiss was yet another fast-paced, action-packed romance in the Realm Enforcers series. I loved Tori, and the way she brought Adam to his knees. Story: I loved the strength Tori showed throughout Wicked Kiss, even if she put herself in danger at times because of her stubbornness. Adam pushed all her buttons, though, so it really wasn’t difficult to forgive her for some lapses in judgement. The overall Realm Enforcers plot continued with the search for the mastermind behind Appollo, and the suspense was sharp-edged. There was danger everywhere, and Tori needed to learn to use her power, rather than let it use her. There were more than one show-down, and the last one made me completely breathless. Adam’s […]

Review: Winner – Belle Brooks

Review: Winner – Belle Brooks

Winner is a whimsical tale, where the actual plot was a bit hard for me to grasp. Story: Winner starts with a horrible flash-back into Tank’s past, then slides into the present. He has a hard job at a steel mill, and no money. Until he wins the lottery, that is. Only, he can’t believe his own luck, and almost loses the ticket when he’s in a car accident and his car catches fire. There is a lot going on, but I didn’t really invest in the characters, so even the suspense in Winner was a little off to me. Characters: Finley ‘Tank’ is the main character, he might look like a goon, but he has a heart of gold. […]

Review: Bad Deeds – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: Bad Deeds – Lisa Renee Jones

Bad Deeds was a fast-paced and exciting read, with a monumental cliff-hanger that left me breathless and incredulous. Story: Following straight after the ending of Damage Control, Bad Deeds is faster paced, and because I have gotten to know the characters much better, I was more involved as well. The danger is stronger, as is the rivalry between family members, until something happens to make a change. Emily is put in extreme danger and a situation she could never have seen coming. And the plot continues to thicken. Characters: Shane and Emily are still the main characters, however, the readers get more time with Derek, Seth and Jessica, which makes for a more even story in some ways. Writing style […]

Review: Damage Control – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: Damage Control – Lisa Renee Jones

There is even more action and danger in Damage Control than in the first book. Emily and Shane have a lot difficulties to deal with; most of it outside of their control. Story: Danger galore in Damage Control. And the familial relationships are more than tense. Emily is still keeping back part of herself, as she is too afraid her past will catch up with her and damage Shane. The plot moves forward nicely, and the pace is fairly even. There are a lot of sex scenes, and sometimes, I skimmed part of them, as I didn’t feel they always added something to the actual story. Characters: Shane is fairly standoffish in some ways, but he really cares for Emily. […]

Review: Wildfire – Ilona Andrews

Review: Wildfire – Ilona Andrews

Wildfire took me on a journey that was extremely fast-paced, filled with action, betrayal, romance, intrigue and a complicated plot. So well done! What else can I say about Wildfire? The character development is awesome. The universe is completely set up. I love Rogan. I also love Nevada. And Nevada’s family. I love all the magic! And the intrigue. As well as the fight scenes. And the action, too. Now this sounds like a poem. But I’m no poet, am I? Wildfire is fast-paced. And it’s so well done! The storyline attractive, and I just want more. Small secrets were revealed. Some big ones as well. And review still sounds like a poem. So I’ll just go with it, then. […]

Review: White Hot – Ilona Andrews

Review: White Hot – Ilona Andrews

White Hot brought some more explanations about the Hidden Legacy universe, and I got to know Nevada, Rogan, and the other characters better. The pace is fast, and there is so much going on. I’m in a magic-induced nirvana right now. I don’t know how the Andrews do it, but White Hot was actually even better than Burn for Me! The character development was awesome, and so was the overall storyline, with parts continuing from the last books, and many new happenings as well. The political intrigue was still going on, and the magic used to undermine the different houses was amazing. Not going to say too much about White Hot, as I don’t want to spoil anything – just […]

Review: Worth the Wait – Lori Foster

Review: Worth the Wait – Lori Foster

Worth the Wait bears its title very well! I loved this story, even though it followed one main couple, plus another couple who got less time allotted to them. The writing is so good, and there’s some well-timed suspense as well as the romance. Hogan had been through the wringer more than once, and Worth the Wait was really about how he was worth waiting for. Violet was attracted to Hogan, but she didn’t want to be just another notch on his bedpost. I was intrigued by Hogan when I first met him in Don’t Tempt Me, and his story was really good. He had quite a bit of thinking through his past to do, before he could completely open […]

Review: Burn for Me – Ilona Andrews

Review: Burn for Me – Ilona Andrews

Oh my goodness! Rogan and Nevada are both characters I became slightly obsessed with at the beginning of Burn for Me, and now, I just know that I have to figure out what is up next. Ilona Andrews did it again – a complete winner! There is something special with stories including magic. When those stories are written by Ilona Andrews, there is even more that is special about them! Burn for Me is a prime example of their excellent writing, world building, character development, story arc, plot and general awesomeness. I don’t really know what more to say than that – it was as close to perfection as the written word can possibly be. Rogan and Nevada are very […]
