Review: Surrender (The Ferryman and the Flame #1) – Rhiannon Paille

*I received a free ARC of Surrender from CreateSpace via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* In Surrender, Kaliel is a young girl who feels clumsy around her kinsfolk, she can speak to the trees and the merfolk, but she falls over everytime she needs to go somewhere. At the fire festival in Avristar, she goes to a waterfall one evening. Behind the waterfall, Krishani, part of the Amersil Brotherhood is watching her. When they meet, they both feel an attraction toward the other, even if they are hiding it at first. As Kaliel and Krishani go back to their own villages, the readers follow Kaliels adventures as she nears the time she will go to the mysterious great […]

Review: Boundless (Unearthly #3) – Cynthia Hand

Review: Boundless (Unearthly #3) – Cynthia Hand

Boundless is kind of without bounds, and in some ways it could have been better if it had some boundaries. Clara, Christian and Angela leave for Standford at the very beginning of Boundless, and the readers follow them through information as they arrive. The first night, they are taken out of their rooms by the older students for a run around campus in the dark, and Clara gets to know one of Angela’s roommates, as well as the PHE who’s part of her dorm. She also manages to use just a tiny bit of glory to heal a girl’s broken ankle – without anybody noticing that something is up. Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe […]

Review: Radiant (Unearthly #2.5) – Cynthia Hand

Review: Radiant (Unearthly #2.5) – Cynthia Hand

Radiant is a quick novella in the Unearthly series. Clara and Angela are in Rome for the summer, visiting with Angela’s family. And Phen – the mysterious guy who taught Angela all she knows about angels and nephilims – suddenly shows up in the metro and draws Angela to him once more. Radiant is written in dual point of view; one chapter from Angela’s POV, the next from Clara’s. And it was really good to learn more about Angela by literally being inside of her head for a while. Angela seemed very mysterious to me in the prior books in the series, and to understand her better will be helpful for me personally. I believe that their purpose is dual, […]

Review: Bitter Blood (The Morganville Vampires #13) – Rachel Caine

Review: Bitter Blood (The Morganville Vampires #13) – Rachel Caine

Bitter Blood is the perfect continuation of The Morganville Vampires series. Claire is such a great heroine; she is smart, tough, courageous, loving and never gives up. Her friends are her new family, and it is quite a new adventure they are all facing in this story. Review: The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater

Review: The Scorpio Races – Maggie Stiefvater

I had no idea what to expect when I picked up The Scorpio Races, and I was completely blown away by it all! The characters, the vicious cappal uisce and the mystery surrounding both them and the race. Puck had to fight for everything she believed in to save her home and her little brother, and Sean gave his all to save the cappal uisce he considered to be his own, while working hard to keep other riders and horses alive and well too. Review: Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles #4) – Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Review: Beautiful Redemption (Caster Chronicles #4) – Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Beautiful Redemption was very well written, with the characters we know and love moving on with a fate they really thought they’d never have to live (or die) with. They all grew and made concessions, and the humor was present just like in the other books in the series. The Caster Chronicles is among my favorite series ever, whether the series be YA or adult. The ending to a series I loved that was written so well should have gotten five stars you say? Well, yes, I thought so to, except there actually is a but… that I will discuss further down in my review to explain why I only gave it four stars. Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your […]

Review: Rift (Nightshade Prequel #1) – Andrea Cremer

Review: Rift (Nightshade Prequel #1) – Andrea Cremer

Rift is the first book in the prequel series concerning the Nightshade universe. I was completely engrossed in this story, I loved Ember, as I usually love strong female protagonists. I also really liked to understand more about what happened during the Nightshade novels, the mythology, the hunger for power, the fight against evil, and the true companionship among the the guardians of the world. Review: Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy #1) – Sarah Rees Brennan

Review: Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy #1) – Sarah Rees Brennan

Unspoken is a book I actually have a lot of trouble rating and reviewing. On one hand, I love the author, her sense of humor and her writing. On the other hand, I had a very hard time connecting with any of the characters here, even though they all had both positive and negative character traits. Review: The Lost Prince (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten #1) – Julie Kagawa

*I received an ARC of The Lost Prince from Harlequin Teen via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* There are a couple of things that happen in The Lost Prince that are actually explained in Iron’s Prophecy so if you have that one, I think it would be a great idea to read that first! The Lost Prince is everything I dreamed it could be, and more! I’m sure we can all guess how things are going to play out – right? Well, things don’t really go according to Ethan’s plan at all, but there is a lot of action, new friendships, and a mystery that has to be taken care of. Ethan finds out a lot more both […]
