Review: Kaleidoscope – Kristen Ashley

Review: Kaleidoscope – Kristen Ashley

Kaleidoscope had some beautiful metaphors, but Emme and Deck didn’t wow me as much as other Colorado Mountain couples have. The main thing that made Kaleidoscope less enjoyable to me was that in many ways, Emme was just too high strung and high maintenance for me. I did get why at the very end, but by that time, I didn’t care that much anymore. I totally loved Deck, though, and the connections he had both with the rest of the Colorado Mountain men, and with the Rock Chick guys. One thing I love with Kristen Ashley is the strong sense of community, and that was present in Kaleidoscope as well. So was both the incredible mystery, the suspense, and the […]

Review: Jagged – Kristen Ashley

Review: Jagged – Kristen Ashley

The romance and the closeness in Jagged hit me right in the chest – it was beautiful! One of the things I loved the most about Jagged was the fact that Ham’s voice got jagged in certain situations. And I have to say, my feels with this story were completely off the charts. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank Brandee enough for introducing me to Kristen Ashley’s books! The characters are grown-ups, which is something I find refreshing in romance, and while there was still a bit of drama, the action, the suspense, and the relationships were all easy to relate to, and I found I had a lot of love for the characters as they went […]

Review: For You – Kristen Ashley

Review: For You – Kristen Ashley

For You is simply excellent – romance, suspense, 2nd chances, friendships, small town – it’s ALL good I have always been a huge fan of second chance romances, and For You delivered a very delicious one! February and Alexander could have had it all. They seemed destined to be together and started dating in high school. Then, something happened, and February broke up with Alexander. She went on a wild streak, and ultimately married another man. After that marriage ended in disaster, February kind of ran away from home and went around the US working in bars. Never getting too close to anyone, until she gets called home to help her brother run the family bar. Once she is home, […]

Review: Sweet Dreams – Kristen Ashley

Review: Sweet Dreams – Kristen Ashley

Delicious, dangerous, romantic, hot, emotional… I’m pretty sure I could find many more adjectives to describe Sweet Dreams. I don’t even know where to start without squeeing about Sweet Dreams! Lauren was so lost until she arrived in Carnal, and even then, it took her a while to start finding herself again. And Tate… *shakes head*… *sighs*… Tate was definitely something. Book boyfriend deluxe comes to mind as a way to describe him. I loved that both Lauren and Tate were over 40. That they had lived their lives a bit before meeting each other. And that they really didn’t get along when they first met. And there was so much going on in this story, too. Lauren had been […]

Review: Taking Turns – J.A. Huss

Review: Taking Turns – J.A. Huss

Oh man! Taking Turns is dark. And addictive. And enticing. And twisted. And mysterious. And sexy. And so very complex and complicated. Taking Turns made me a little uneasy before I picked it up. I mean, yeah, Huss is one of my favorite authors, but her stuff can be extremely dark. And taboo. And a little uncomfortable. And pushing boundaries. And expanding my reading horizons pretty far off what I had imagined. So, reading about one girl and not two, but three guys. Yeah, definitely uneasy! And it was definitely a dirty story. But it was much more than that! It was about secrets. Really bad childhoods. Redemption, hope, respect, and possibly even love. It is quite difficult to review […]

Review: Don’t You Cry – Mary Kubica

Review: Don’t You Cry – Mary Kubica

Don’t You Cry is a deliciously creepy, mysterious tale, where the plot only fully unfolds at the very end of the story. At first, I had a little bit of trouble getting into the story of Don’t You Cry (and for the whole time, I had Axl Rose singing in my mind…) because it was quite slow, and one of the narrators was a little… hmm how should I say it?… dense. She was not only a bit socially awkward, she was very immature and unsure of herself. She did grow on me, though, and as the story moved forward, I came to like her and her strange ways. Don’t You Cry had two narrators, and neither of them was […]

Review: Highland Heat – Jennifer Haymore

Review: Highland Heat – Jennifer Haymore

Highland Heat had a fantastic balance of hot romance and heady mystery, and it kept me interested and flipping the pages fast! Not everyone can pull of a historical romance heroine who actually helps out at the battleground of Waterloo, without swooning, and without really caring about propriety. Highland Heat featured such a heroine, and she was fascinating to say the least! Her name, Grace, does say it all as she showed both grace and strength as she dealt with wounded and dead soldiers. And when she discovered Duncan alive, it was all she could do to help him to his feet and to see a doctor. Of course, him being a Scottish sheep-farmer, and she a British noble didn’t […]

#ReadIndie Review: Mr. Match – J.A. Huss

#ReadIndie Review: Mr. Match – J.A. Huss

Mr. Match is the biggest mindfuck I have ever read, and that is really saying something! On top of that, the romance and the characters were top notch, too! Mr. Match finally brought all the loose ends together, but those ends weren’t all neat and nice, oh no, Sir! They were messy. They were filled with lies. They took away some hope. They made people trust each other less. They took no prisoners. But they did clear up everything that needed to be cleared up. WOW what a ride the Mister series has been. Each of the first four books can be read in any order, but this fifth book should definitely be read last – it’s the only one […]

Audioreview: Pack Challenge – Shelley Laurenston

Audioreview: Pack Challenge – Shelley Laurenston

Pack Challenge is fast paced, a bit mysterious and plenty hot and quite humorous at times. Pack Challenge was my introduction to Laurenston’s writing, and I definitely want more of her stories. I enjoyed her take on shapeshifters, and I really loved Sara from the beginning. Both her snarky relationship with her friends, and the way she interacted with the other characters made me laugh sometimes, and roll my eyes a little other times. The universe of these shifters was well done, and I am very curious as to what else will happen with the Magnus Pack in the future. The chemistry between Sara and Zach was off the chart from the beginning of Pack Challenge, and it was especially […]

Review: The Cabin – Natasha Preston

Review: The Cabin – Natasha Preston

The Cabin had a lot of potential, but it really didn’t work for me. At all. There were times I wanted to put it down, but I also kind of wanted to see how the story would end. The Cabin had a lot of the tropes that I don’t enjoy when it comes to young adult novels. Like MacKenzie falling instantly in love with Blake, and her inner musings trying to justify that. Insta-love is very hard to get especially in the circumstances that were a part of this novel. A group of friends going to a cabin for a weekend in the summer between school and uni, and where one of the guys was more or less hated by […]
