Review: The Best Man – Kristan Higgins

*I received a free ARC of The Best Man from Harelquin Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* The Best Man is exactly the kind of contemporary romance I love to immerse myself in! Cute little tourist town upstate New York. Quirky and seeminlgy ‘real’ heroine. A hot and brooding alpha-male – whom Faith is trying her best to hate, and who does his best to show her his disdain. A big family that is united in many ways, but where they all still feel shattered by their mother’s death twenty years ago. Romance, hot and steamy make-out scenes – and The Best Man has all the ingredients for success! Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email […]

Review: Lover at Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood #11) – J. R. Ward

Review: Lover at Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood #11) – J. R. Ward

Lover at Last is the tale of Blay and Qhuinn, who have been friends since childhood. When they went to their transitions at the same time, and Qhuinn was disowned by his family, Blay was the one who was there for him. Their relationship is pretty problematic at the beginning of the story, as Blay is seeing Qhuinn’s cousin, Saxon, and Qhuinn has helped Layla through her first needing. The brooding friends are both jealous, but they are unable to talk about their feelings. Blay thinks Qhuinn is a lost cause, especially now that the Chosen has been with him. Qhuinn is sure that Blay will stay with Saxon forever, and that there is no more chances for him and […]

Review: Back on Track (Strangers on a Train) – Donna Cummings

*I received a free ARC of Back on Track from the author in exchange of an honest review* Back on Track is a short novella about Allie and Matt. They have both been avoiding dating for a while, each for their own reasons. When their friends persuade them to go on a wine-tasting train ride, they follow along. Neither is very happy about it at first, but when Allie notices Matt, she thinks he’s pretty hot. Her friend tells her to go for it – and she has the corkiest pick-up line I’ve ever seen. But it worked! Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. […]

As she loses both her job and her boyfriend the same day, she has no idea what to do next. She doesn’t really want to leave New York, but it seems there aren’t that many openings for an English teacher in a local college. Review: The Demon Lover (Fairwick Chronicles #1) – Juliet Dark

*I received a free ARC of The Demon Lover from Random House / Ballantine Books via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* When Callie decides to take the job she is offered in Fairwick, little does she know just how much her life will change. She is amazed at their folklore department, and the library at the college is more than she could ever dream of. She sees herself writing more books as well as teaching students who are interested in gothic literature and fairy tales. The Demon Lover starts out with Callie arriving for her interview, and how she isn’t sure if she wants the job or not. However, the Honeysuckle house makes her change her mind very […]

Review: The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) – Richelle Mead

Review: The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) – Richelle Mead

Oh, Adrian, how you grew in The Indigo Spell, I start to understand those who loved you dearly in Vampire Academy better and better with each Bloodlines book! Sydney also made some changes in The Indigo Spell, she understood more about the Alchemists, and also more about her own powers. It was really wonderful to read about the new adventures our merry little gang of vampires, dhampirs and alchemists went through. Both Sydney and Adrian continued to grow, as they had started to already in The Golden Lily. Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard #1) – Christina Lauren

Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard #1) – Christina Lauren

*I received a free ARC of Beautiful Bastard from Gallery Books via Edelweiss in exchange of an honest review* Beautiful Bastard starts out with angry sex in the very first chapter. Chloe is talking to herself quite a lot in her own head, which some might find endearing, but I found that pretty annoying. For the first two thirds of the story, I thought both Chloe and Bennett were pretty much one-dimensional. The only thing we get to know about them is that they love to tell each other off – just before having rough sex in inappropriate places. Review: Boundless (Unearthly #3) – Cynthia Hand

Review: Boundless (Unearthly #3) – Cynthia Hand

Boundless is kind of without bounds, and in some ways it could have been better if it had some boundaries. Clara, Christian and Angela leave for Standford at the very beginning of Boundless, and the readers follow them through information as they arrive. The first night, they are taken out of their rooms by the older students for a run around campus in the dark, and Clara gets to know one of Angela’s roommates, as well as the PHE who’s part of her dorm. She also manages to use just a tiny bit of glory to heal a girl’s broken ankle – without anybody noticing that something is up. Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe […]
