Review: When Snow Falls (Whiskey Creek #2) – Brenda Novak

*I received a free ARC of When Snow Falls from Harlequin MIRA via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* I just love the Whiskey Creek series and When Snow Falls is no exception! It is well written, with fleshed-out characters who try to do the best they can with what life has given them. I was happy to have this after I finished When Lightning Strikes, so I could continue with this universe straight away! Review: Stolen – Shiloh Walker

Review: Stolen – Shiloh Walker

*I received a free ARC of Stolen Random House via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review* Stolen really, really freaked me out! It had me from the first sentence, and I gripped my kindle for most of the time I was reading. What I liked the most is that in all the creepiness, there was still both romance and humor present most of the time. Yes, it’s actually possible, and it was masterfully done in this novel. Very exciting, quite thrilling and more than a little creepy. Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. When Lightning Strikes is book 1 of the Whiskey Creek series, and I have already read the prequel – and I loved that, too! Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. Join 5,014 other subscribers Email Address

Review: Wanted: Undead or Alive (Love at Stake #12) – Kerrelyn Sparks

Review: Wanted: Undead or Alive (Love at Stake #12) – Kerrelyn Sparks

Wanted: Undead or alive left me with a first impressionl, I, who often don’t even notice covers, have to just mention this cover. That guy on the cover just can’t be Dr. Phang! Dr. Phang is black – that guy over there is definitely not black. I don’t understand why someone else is on the cover of Phang’s book. There, now that’s off my chest. Wanted: Undead or Alive was quite slow in comparison to the other books in this series, but the relationship budding between Phinneas and Brynley was well suited to go slow. And it permitted the readers to really get to know both of them a lot better, and to understand their hang-ups and their defensive mechanisms. […]

Review: The Devil in Silver – Victor LaValle

Review: The Devil in Silver – Victor LaValle

*I received a free ARC of The Devil in Silver from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* *Trigger warnings : suicide, abuse by people in a situation of power, murder* In the beginning, Pepper thinks it’s going to be easy to stay a few days in the psych ward – whatever could happen to him there, right? He learns differently already the first morning, when he gets his medication and immediately loses over an hour of his life due to the medicated haze. He soon realizes that life as he knew it will never be the same, even if he only has to stay for 72 hours. His brain is sluggish, his body doesn’t respond the way he thinks […]

Just One Night (Rebels With a Cause #1) – Eve Gaddy

*I received a free ARC of Just One Night from Bell Bridge Books via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review* I did quite enjoy this book, but I had to take some points off for clichés, insta-love and predictability. If you want to read something quick, romantic and a little hot, with a splash of mystery and some conflicts of interest, this should hit exactly the right spot. Time Untime (Dark Hunter #22) – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Time Untime (Dark Hunter #22) – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Time Untime – book 22 in one of my favorite series was quite different from the rest of the books in some ways, and very similar in others. The biggest difference for me was that I didn’t really love Ren all that much 🙁 I get that his extremely long life has been difficult, and that he has never known love, but the self-loathing was really hard to read about, and made it less enjoyable to read than I would have liked.  I totally loved Kateri, though, and both Ash and Nick showed up to save the day, and I love both of them as well, so there were lots of things to like in this instalment, even if there […]

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6) – Chloe Neill

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6) – Chloe Neill

This review contains spoilers from books 4 and 5 in the series, so if you haven’t read those yet, you should probably stop reading right now… Biting Cold is about redemption. For Mallory, for Ethan, for Merit and for Seth. I had a little trouble getting into the world of Chicagoland again, after having been quite disappointed with the two prior books. I was devastated at the end of book 4, when Ethan died. And I was not happy with the way he was brought back from the dead at the end of book 5. Biting Cold started with Ethan and Merit chasing after the Maleficius, and a fight with Seth on the way to were it was hidden. The […]
