Review: Into the Woods (The Hollows #10.1) – Kim Harrison

Review: Into the Woods (The Hollows #10.1) – Kim Harrison

Into the Woods has to be the best anthology I have ever gotten my hands on! I loved reading more about The Hollows cast, in these all new stories where the readers got to see some things that happened behind the scenes in the novels so far in the series. It is an excellent way to get to know Ivy, Jenks and even Trent better. And of course, the writing is awesome as usual, so Into the Woods was a real treat to tide me over until The Undead Pool is released. You should definitely not read Into the Woods before you have read the first ten book in the series, because some of what happens is not explained in […]

Review: Dance for Me (Fenbrook Academy #1) – Helena Newbury

Review: Dance for Me (Fenbrook Academy #1) – Helena Newbury

I picked up Dance for Me as soon as I finished my ARC copy of In Harmony, because I loved In Harmony so much I just couldn’t wait to learn more about those who were side characters there. In Dance for me, I got to know Natasha a lot better, as well as the other dancers from Fenbrook Academy. I have to admit I was a little bit disappointed with Dance for Me, though. I didn’t get swept off my feet the same way, and I didn’t feel as close to Natasha as I did to Karen. The writing is very good in Dance for Me, and the story flows across the pages without any hitches, but I wasn’t really […]

Review: The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4) – Richelle Mead

Review: The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4) – Richelle Mead

The Fiery Heart exceeded all my expectations! Well written, of course, and so much character growth, but a terrible cliffhanger in the end! I don’t know how I’ll be able to wait until Silver Shadows is released in July next year! But let me start with the beginning! At the end of The Indigo Spell, Zoe, Sidney’s sister is transferred to room with Sydney and be a second Alchemist making sure Jill stays safe. This, of course thwarts Sydney and Adrian’s budding relationship, but not as much as it could have. To see Sydney thorn between her need to spend time with Adrian, and her need to try to make her sister happy was well done, too, and I grew […]

Review: Manic (Rook and Ronin #2) – J.A. Huss

Review: Manic (Rook and Ronin #2) – J.A. Huss

Manic continues shortly after the end of Tragic, and I continue to love Rook and Ronin! The writing is still awesome, and I can’t get enough of their story, their journey and the way the both grow as characters, even if they do have some slip-ups when it comes to being a relationship still. They both need to get used to sharing their feelings, and I was actually a little surprised that Rook seemed better at this than Ronin. Rook is starting her photo shoot – and her reality TV show for Spencer and the body paint for his custom made motorcycles. Unfortunately, Rook had not learned her lesson about reading the whole contract and maybe sleep on it before […]

Review: Tragic (Rook and Ronin #1) – J. A. Huss

Review: Tragic (Rook and Ronin #1) – J. A. Huss

Tragic is a gritty, real story about a girl who is running from an abusive relationship and ends up doing erotic photo shoots to make ends meet. When she meets Claire, Antoine and Ronin, Rook’s life does take a turn that seems to be better now she will have a roof over her head, earn money and feel safe. Only things aren’t as easy as they seem, and she might just be playing with fire because of the way she feels in these photo shoots. Rook is a fragile and quite innocent girl who has had a very hard life, so she feels like she deserves to catch a break, all the while waiting for the other shoe to fall. […]

Review: Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths #3) – K.A. Tucker

Review: Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths #3) – K.A. Tucker

Four Seconds to Lose is just as emotional as Ten Tiny Breaths and One Tiny Lie! I already loved Cain, but getting to know him better was a true pleasure. I have to admit that Charlie is a really great character as well, she’s the perfect mix of innocent and saucy, and it was great to see how she could unbalance Cain with just a wink. There is a very dark undertone to Four Seconds to Lose, but that is to be expected in this series, right? Nothing is ever easy for the main characters, nor for their friends. There are several sightings of characters you have met before if you are familiar with this series, Storm, Dan, Ginger, China… […]

Review: Finding Cinderella (Hopeless #2.5) – Colleen Hoover

Review: Finding Cinderella (Hopeless #2.5) – Colleen Hoover

Finding Cinderella is a novella in the Hopeless series, and as usual, I just love Ms. Hoover’s writing! Daniel is shown in a very different light in Finding Cinderella, he is much more than the best friend with the big mouth and the stupid nick-names here. It was also very nice to get to know Six better. And I really enjoyed seeing this more fragile side to her, since the little we see of her in Hopeless doesn’t really help the readers understand her very well. As usual, the writing is just beautiful, and I thought it was all going to be taking me to a wonderfully happy place, until *BAM* something is revealed that just might change everything. And […]

Review: Allegiant (Divergent #3) – Veronica Roth

Review: Allegiant (Divergent #3) – Veronica Roth

I saw some pretty negative star-ratings of Allegiant before I got the time to read it myself, and while I understand where those reviewers were coming from completely, I was actually amazed with this ending to a dystopian trilogy like Divergent, because I thought it really took guts to write it the way Ms. Roth did. I loved seeing how lost Tobias, Tris and their friends were once the factions were completely disbanded in their city. The way they didn’t know which way to turn, and how Tobias was torn between his mother and Tris, and he is the one with the most hesitations, from the beginning to the end. Tris and Tobias managed to leave the city behind, through […]

Review: Just One Year (Just One Day #2) – Gayle Forman

Review: Just One Year (Just One Day #2) – Gayle Forman

Just One Year was on my pre-ordered list from the moment it was possible to add it there, and when I (finally) received it last week, I was so happy! I’ve been looking forward to Willem’s story for all this time, because that one special day he spent in Paris with Lulu, and then his disappearance was so well done. And then, to see how Allyson aka Lulu kept trying to find him, while having no idea where to start made me even more curious as to how Willem lived with this separation after having Just One Day together. My curiosity was quickly quenched as I kept reading this whole year from Willem’s point of view. Just One Year shows […]

Review: Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson #7) – Patricia Briggs

Review: Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson #7) – Patricia Briggs

Frost Burned was keeping some other books company on my kindle for quite a while before I sat down to read about one of  my favorite heroines – coyote Mercy Thompson, married to the alpha of the werewolves. It’s one of the series I like to say I savor, I don’t want to rush through any of the books in the Mercy Thompson series, and I want to be able to read it when I feel ready for some hot weres and strong-willed, kick-ass Mercy! There certainly is a lot of action in Frost Burned, and Mercy hardly has time to breathe, so forget about eating or sleeping completely. Through all the things she was put through, Mercy stayed true […]
