Review: Four Hearts – Belle Brooks

Review: Four Hearts – Belle Brooks

Four Hearts blew me away – and I still don’t know who the Wolf is. And I still wonder if this can ever end well. Story: As this story goes on, the suspense just gets more and more intense! I don’t know what to do with Four Hearts. I felt more like I was completely out of breath! There is so much psychological terror and meanness. It is absolutely impossible to figure out who the wolf is. And even more so who the rat is… even if I have more viable suspects for that one. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense that’s so tense you can feel your throat close up, Four Hearts – indeed this whole series – […]

Review: Shattered Fear – Tara Thomas

Review: Shattered Fear – Tara Thomas

Shattered Fear started out pretty strong, but as the story went on, I found Janie to be a rather weak female character. For a seasoned police officer, she acted more like a damsel in distress than someone who could take control and catch a killer. Story: The mystery is pretty strong in Shattered Fear, and I enjoyed how one character remained unknown until the end. Only alluded to as ‘The Gentleman’ the brain behind missing women and murdered dancers never showed his face. Not even to the readers. Apart from the mystery, though, I was left with wanting more. I wanted more character development. More interactions between the protagonists. More of the actual police work. Characters: Janie was working as […]

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Hell’s Revenge is filled with a solid plot, mystery, suspense, some extreme hotness and lots of humor. Story: Hell’s Revenge is a risqué story, in which Muriel lives with her two consorts, David and Auric. And because of her sex-based powers, she has to make sure she gets enough sex. Which definitely brought out both a lot of steam, and some much needed   to help with all the break-neck speed action. Muriel finds out that she’s pregnant. Her up-until-now unknown mother shows up unexpectedly to share the news with her, Lucifer, and the two dads. Not only does she inform them all about the pregnancy, she also explains to them that she needs the baby once it’s born. Hell’s Revenge […]

Review: Final Siege – Scarlett Cole

Review: Final Siege – Scarlett Cole

Final Siege had everything I love in a romantic suspense! There was, indeed a lot of suspense, a bit of anguish, some romance, and a lot of past hurt to resolve. Story: Final Siege was such a great story – Cole is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense. Delaney was alluded to in Under Fire, and getting to meet her was such a treat! Especially because she was not in a good situation when Mac finally caught up to her after years of them not seeing each other. One of the things I loved the most in Final Siege was the unresolved feelings and relationship between Mac and Delaney. Especially because they could have cleared everything […]

Review: Keep Her Safe – K.A. Tucker

Review: Keep Her Safe – K.A. Tucker

Watch out, everybody! Romantic suspense has a new queen, Tucker totally nailed it with Keep Her Safe. There are ugly secrets, dirty cops, a beautiful love story, and some incredibly difficult decisions to make. Story: Keep Her Safe is an excellent romantic suspense, and I have to say Tucker nailed this new writing adventure! I found the mystery part extremely well done, and the layers upon layers of deceit made me wonder about what had truly happened. It also took me a very long time to finally figure out who was the main culprit that made the evil ball start rolling. The pace was fast enough to make me feel like the story moved along nicely, and the way the […]

Review: End Game – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: End Game – Lisa Renee Jones

End Game brought a lot of pain to some of the characters, with the aftermath of the incredible cliffhanger in Bad Deeds… I loved the character growth in End Game, the depth this brought to various relationships, and the tension that was so thick it could be cut with a butcher knife. The suspense was breath-taking, and I had trouble sitting still while reading. The emotional pain the characters felt was tangible, and I had no idea how they would get through the incredibly difficult time they were facing. End Game took care of many loose ends, but not all. And there might be a story about one of the side characters from Dirty Money in the future. I, for […]

Review: Storm Gathering – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Storm Gathering – Rebecca Zanetti

Storm Gathering brought with it more action, more tension, more hotness and a strong plot! Story: I was so happy Storm Gathering brought me Maureen’s and Greyson’s story, as they were on the sidelines in Justice Ascending. With every book in the series, a little more about the scorpius syndrome’s mystery is uncovered. And here, some real solutions were found – until the president stepped in to make things difficult for Maureen. Between the Mercs and the Vanguard, Greyson is feeling his loyalties split. And when the president also starts meddling in Greyson’s affairs, things become even more complicated. A lot of the action in Storm Gathering unfolds in the bunker, and there is still a lot to be discovered […]

Review: Close Contact – Lori Foster

Review: Close Contact – Lori Foster

Close contact was a romance with a lot of danger, but there was humor and friendship as well. The hotness between Maxi and Miles was off the charts. Story: Maxi thought she was done with Miles, especially when she moved to her late grandmother’s house in the countryside. Close Contact soon showed me that Maxi needed more than just physical backup, though. When she woke up outside in the middle of the night, with no memory of how she got there, she went to the only place she knew she would find someone to help her keep safe. Miles wasn’t sure what to think when Maxi was sitting in his boss’ office one morning. She was all disheveled and looked […]

Review: Scandalous Beat – Michelle Mankin

Review: Scandalous Beat – Michelle Mankin

Scandalous Beat beautifully wraps up the Tempest series. I have to say, Mankin somehow always ups the ante, and I was mesmerized by the characters, their stories, and the slow, beautiful romance. Story: There was even more action and suspense in Scandalous Beat than in the prior Tempest books, and I have to say that Juaquin and Miriam really worked for me. Both in the prologue when they were teens, and in the actual story when they were in their twenties. Miriam was a strong-willed young woman, and she lived her life on her own terms. She did not give in to pressure, even if that might have caught her a break as an actress. Scandalous Beat follows Juaquin and […]

Review: Right Where We Belong – Brenda Novak

Review: Right Where We Belong – Brenda Novak

Right Where We Belong brought me right back to Silver Springs, where I followed the complicated romance between Savanna and Gavin. There was quite a bit of suspense surrounding them, and that wasn’t the only thing working against them. Story: Savanna has been through a lot since her husband was arrested for several rapes. When people in the community turned against her, she figured she had to move so she and her children wouldn’t encounter any more people screaming at her for standing by him at the beginning. Right Where We Belong then continues away from Utah, and unfolds mostly in Silver Springs. Characters: Savanna is a strong woman, who will do what she thinks is right, even when the […]
