Review: Ruthless – Gillian Archer

Review: Ruthless – Gillian Archer

Ruthless is a whirlwind of hotness, danger, sadness, new beginnings and strong friendships. I don’t know what it is about bad boys, but these days, I really want them. Ruthless delivered, as Zag was deliciously bad, but not evil, if you know what I mean. He was the enforcer in the True Brothers MC, and I loved how he and Jessica met. Not because I enjoyed the violence against Jess (her date didn’t take no for an answer after he had walked her to her car) but because Zag heard her scream from across the parking lot and came to her rescue. Just because he didn’t agree with anyone putting their hands on a woman. Without her consent. What’s not […]

Review: Rebellious – Gillian Archer

Review: Rebellious – Gillian Archer

Rebellious is filled with danger, desire, dirty talk and enough sexy times to make anyone dizzy! Rebellious is the second of the True Brothers MC series, and I actually have an ARC of Ruthless as well, but somehow, I read this first. I enjoyed myself, so I don’t think there will be any trouble for me by not reading these in order. It’s funny to me that in my books, I don’t mind a man who takes charge, and maybe even acts a little bit controlling, because in real life, that just wouldn’t fly. Reb is the president of the MC club, and Emily is the sweet, innocent school librarian who works at B&N during the school holiday. Emily’s next-door-neighbour […]

Review: Mr. Mysterious – J.A. Huss

Review: Mr. Mysterious – J.A. Huss

Mr. Mysterious did bring some answers, but it brought ever more questions as well! The Mister series becomes faster paced with a plot that thickens more with each installment! I loved Mr. Mysterious, both because I was curious about Pax, and because Cindy was such a hoot! That girl actually narrates parts of her actions as they happen 🙂 and she had me laughing out loud. Her flirting with Pax was outrageous, but I think it was needed in order to really capture his attention. The overall plot moved forward very nicely here, but I still feel like I have more questions than answers. And that is definitely right up Ms. Huss’s usual alley – to keep us all guessing […]

Review: Magic Binds – Ilona Andrews

Review: Magic Binds – Ilona Andrews

Magic Binds has action at break-neck speed, and still managed to be one of the most romantic and sweet installment in the series at the same time! As always, Kate Daniels is epic! Magic Binds moves forward very nicely, and some loose ends are tied up, while new ones are being made. I loved that Kate was doubting things because of her connection with the land. Feeling the magic get stronger, and how it was sometimes difficult to stay human with all that power, and how Curran was able to anchor her when she could have gone completely mad with it. Magic Binds includes Kate and other characters’ trademark humor, some serious hotness, epic battles, a lot of deceit, secrets […]

Review: Sugar Free – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Sugar Free – Sawyer Bennett

Sugar Free nicely ends the Sugar Bowl series… but not after some incredible twists and turns where every possible solution seems impossible. A lot is going on in Sugar Free, and beware of possible spoilers from Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush in this review, as it’s really very difficult to discuss what happens here without sharing what happened in the prior two instalments. Sela is in a seemingly impossible predicament at the beginning of the story, and Beck jumps in head first to save her and keep her out of harm’s way. Even with the horrible actions Sela had to partake in, because she only did it to save herself, I was cheering her on. Beck went way out of his comfort […]

Review: Her Darkest Nightmare – Brenda Novak

Review: Her Darkest Nightmare – Brenda Novak

Her Darkest Nightmare has a lot of tension, the psychological aspect of this thriller is very well done. There were, however, several instances where I had to consciously suspend disbelief in order to follow Evelyn. Her Darkest Nightmare happens about six months after the ending of Hanover House, and the prison / psych ward has opened and is almost at capacity. With one of the doctors out sick, and another one having left because of the long winter in Alaska, Evelyn has a smaller team to deal with, which means there’s more work for all of them. Because Evelyn has brought in a new inmate – without discussing it with her colleagues first – the sense of mistrust was very […]

Review: Shadow Falling – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Shadow Falling – Rebecca Zanetti

Shadow Falling was just as tense as Mercury Striking, and the characters and the plot moved the story forward flawlessly. The complexity of this dystopian world keeps getting sharper, and I almost had to hold my breath in places. Shadow Falling is the perfect follow-up to Mercury Striking, I found myself on the edge of my seat more than once, and at one point, my foot cramped because I was so tense about what was going on. Vinnie had been through hell, and she had the nightmares to prove it! The fact that she was still able to get up in the morning, show empathy, and try to help the people who had saved her said a lot about her […]

Review: Sugar Rush – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Sugar Rush – Sawyer Bennett

Oh my freaking goodness. Sugar Rush has left me with a thundering heart and completely out of breath! Bennett is a master at mixing erotica and suspense, and she truly proved that in Sugar Rush! All my feelings were invested, and I swear, Sela almost killed me at times. Both at the beginning and towards the very end, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hurry up and read or if I needed a break from the emotional rollercoaster. Beck is an awesome character, too, and the way his and Sela’s relationship is getting stronger is so well done. I love that they are able to share everything with each other, even if they don’t always do it anyway. Fast […]

Review: Mr. Corporate – J. A. Huss

Review: Mr. Corporate – J. A. Huss

Mr. Corporate made me doubt what I thought I knew about the Misters, and I enjoyed that he was keeping his card so close to the chest he wasn’t even thinking about what they were. I really enjoyed Weston and what he brought to the story in Mr. Corporate, but Tori truly grated on my nerves. For almost the whole story, she went from hot to cold to scalding, and her reactions didn’t really make much sense to me. Even when I got to know her back story, I didn’t fully understand her or think she was justified in the way she treated Weston. The overall story and plot was awesome, though, and I found Weston to be great – […]

Review: Made for Sin – Stacia Kane

Review: Made for Sin – Stacia Kane

Made for Sin is set in a dark, gritty universe, where there are demons and magic, and where safety is not a given. Characters that kept me on my toes, a tight plot and a good storyline entertained me and had me hooked from start to finish. Made for Sin has quite a bit of suspense, as the story starts with the discovery of a corpse without its right arm. Yes, you read that right – the whole arm was taken off, from the shoulder, and the rest was left behind. Speare was the one PI who was set on the case, and he needed help both from the police and from a thief who might know something about a […]
