Dream Magic is the stunning second instalment in Mankin’s Magic series. The paranormal world the story unfolds in is complex, with characters that are multi-faceted and enticing. I loved Strange Magic, and I’m happy to say that Dream Magic is even better! The world was expanded, and all the characters showed other facets of themselves than they did in the first book. Shield of Winter is definitely a tipping point in the overall story-arc when it comes to the Psy-Changeling series. Strong characters move the story forward, helped by a tough plot. The Dream Thieves is a darkly beautiful story, with intricate, full-grown characters who continue to grow and evolve throughout the various plot-lines. As always, when reading a Stiefvater novel, I was immediately transported to another world, with vivid characters, a dark but promising story, a mystery and plot-lines that slowly but surely got weaved together to make a whole picture. Tell the Wind and Fire made me believe in Rees Brennan’s brilliant story-telling once more! A dark world, in which segregation is paramount, but characters who are willing to bend the borders in order to obtain justice.
