Review: Last Kiss Goodnight – Gena Showalter

Review: Last Kiss Goodnight – Gena Showalter

Last Kiss Goodnight is very melancholy in some ways, and it also truly angered me in other ways! Well written, with multi-faceted characters and an overall plot that was masterfully executed. I’m not sure why I haven’t read Last Kiss Goodnight until now – it’s been on my kindle more or less since it was released, and I was a huge fan of the Alien Huntress series, and I knew that this is a sort of spin-off series set in the same universe with some characters showing up. And wow, I was completely transported to another place, where aliens and humans live together, but not necessarily in harmony. I was both elated by the romance and the pure heart some […]

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Blood Red Kiss gives readers glimpses into three super-series by three rockstar authors in the paranormal romance universe, and I utterly enjoyed myself reading these! I had already red The Warlord Wants Forever – the first story in Blood Red Kiss. Years ago, when I first got back to reading, and I think it was one of my very first paranormal romance reads. I enjoyed it back then, but I didn’t love it. Now, though, I did love it, and that may be partly because Immortals After Dark is one of my favorite series now. It’s a great introduction to the series, and I especially think that the Book of Lore at the beginning is a very nice touch. I […]

Blog tour Review: Spell Cat – Tara Lain

Blog tour Review: Spell Cat – Tara Lain

Spell Cat is a light-hearted romance that also deals with some heavier subjects like discrimination and living in hiding. I knew I’d enjoy Spell Cat as soon as I started reading it, because who doesn’t love a history professor who teaches a class on witch craft, and the hot, nerdy physics professor who seemingly falls for him at first sight? Plus, there is a familiar in cat shape, a mystery, and elders who are keeping the truth from the younger witches in New York… Killian and Blaine were great characters, and they weren’t the only ones, either. Spell Cat shows that discriminating based on whether or not people are human, and whether they fall in love with the opposite sex, […]

Review: Sweet Ruin – Kresley Cole

Review: Sweet Ruin – Kresley Cole

Sweet Ruin continues the saga of the immortals who mostly haunt New Orleans, and I have to say that Rune and Josie’s story was both touching and sweet, with lots of action, and even more nostalgia. I’m not sure why I have kept Sweet Ruin hidden on my kindle for so long! But I’m very happy to have read it now – so that I’ll be ready to delve into Immortals After Dark #17 in January next year… This is a series with an extremely well done mythology, and I am always in awe when I read a new installment. The stories are also character-driven, with a solid story and an overall plot that spans over several books in the […]

Review: Magic Binds – Ilona Andrews

Review: Magic Binds – Ilona Andrews

Magic Binds has action at break-neck speed, and still managed to be one of the most romantic and sweet installment in the series at the same time! As always, Kate Daniels is epic! Magic Binds moves forward very nicely, and some loose ends are tied up, while new ones are being made. I loved that Kate was doubting things because of her connection with the land. Feeling the magic get stronger, and how it was sometimes difficult to stay human with all that power, and how Curran was able to anchor her when she could have gone completely mad with it. Magic Binds includes Kate and other characters’ trademark humor, some serious hotness, epic battles, a lot of deceit, secrets […]

Review: On the Hunt – Alexandra Ivy et al

Review: On the Hunt – Alexandra Ivy et al

On the Hunt is an anthology with fantasy stories from four different authors’ series. The first story made me satisfied and happy to discover a new-to-me author! On the Hunt – this was my introduction to Alexandra Ivy, and I am hungry for more from her The Sentinels series. There is magic and mayhem, and sentinels who hunt down those who don’t abide by the rules. I found the female lead character, a witch, to be very interesting, because she wanted to live on the outskirt of society in order to help heal those who couldn’t always show themselves everywhere. The story was intriguing, even if it was not the beginning of the series, and I enjoyed both the world […]

Audioreview: Panther’s Claim – Eve Langlais

Audioreview: Panther’s Claim – Eve Langlais

Panther’s Claim was a lot of fun, with a mystery, some hot moments and quite a bit of danger. Listening to Panther’s Claim was a treat! I loved the humor, and I also loved how out there Cynthia was in many ways. I mean, she kidnapped Daryl to figure out if he had kidnapped her friend… That is pretty out there, no? Their chemistry was off the charts, though, and I enjoyed how they both slowly came to realize they might be fated mates. The mystery that started in Croc’s Return continues here, and the disappearances of shifters seem very ominous and unnatural, as do the hybrid shifters who attack Cyn and Daryl. There were a lot of interactions between […]

Review: Destined for a King – Ashlyn Macnamara

Review: Destined for a King – Ashlyn Macnamara

Destined for a King is the story of two very strong characters, a world in which the king is the ultimate ruler, and where there is no room for mistakes… Destined for a King is set in a fantasy world, that has a little bit of a medieval feel to it. There is magic, and there is a war on the horizon. This war is brought literally into Calista’s front yard, when Torch and his Bastard Brotherhood take the fort under siege. Torch is badly hurt, though, and Calista has to nurse him back to health, or her father will not only stay in prison, but be executed. Torch doesn’t really care that Calista has been promised to the king, […]

Review: Secrets at Midnight – Nalini Singh

Review: Secrets at Midnight – Nalini Singh

Secrets at Midnight was delicious, like a snack just the way you like it! I’m always in awe at how good Singh is at character development – even in her shorter stories, I get the full experience of fleshed out characters that entice me and keep me coming back for more! Secrets at Midnight was just what I needed to hold me over until the next installment is released. Bastien was a great character, and I loved how confused he was about Kirby at the start… And how he went about to woo her even when he understood that she didn’t really know herself as well as she could have. Even though this story is a novella, the character development […]

Review: Allegiance of Honor – Nalini Singh

Review: Allegiance of Honor – Nalini Singh

Allegiance of Honor is a fabulous instalment in the Psy-Changeling series! While this is a bridge book, there was still plenty of new plot-lines appearing, as well as some favorite characters who re-appeared. I found Allegiance of Honor to be a pitch-perfect part of one of my all time favorite PNR / Dystopia / Sci-Fi series! One story-arch was more or less finished in Shards of Hope, this story managed to bridge the upcoming story-lines by showing readers how most of their favorite couples are doing so far. Each book has concentrated on one couple, and while these couples showed up in later books, this is where their progress as a couple as well as pack-members or psy-net members. And […]
