Review: Close Contact – Lori Foster

Review: Close Contact – Lori Foster

Close contact was a romance with a lot of danger, but there was humor and friendship as well. The hotness between Maxi and Miles was off the charts. Story: Maxi thought she was done with Miles, especially when she moved to her late grandmother’s house in the countryside. Close Contact soon showed me that Maxi needed more than just physical backup, though. When she woke up outside in the middle of the night, with no memory of how she got there, she went to the only place she knew she would find someone to help her keep safe. Miles wasn’t sure what to think when Maxi was sitting in his boss’ office one morning. She was all disheveled and looked […]

Review: To Tame a Wild Lady – Ashlyn Macnamara

Review: To Tame a Wild Lady – Ashlyn Macnamara

To Tame a Wild Lady is Caro’s story, she doesn’t fit within the strict rules of society, and would rather ride her horse than gossip with the ladies. (un)conventionally short: Caro and Adrian weren’t supposed to even meet. Needless to say, they were definitely not supposed to fall in love. To Tame A Wild Lady told a different story, though, and it was delightful! Second in the Duke Defying Daughters series, this story made my toes curl in pleasure. I so love an unconventional lady. Especially when she doesn’t care what society thinks, and just goes after what she wants. And desperately needs. Macnamara managed to make me feel connected to the characters in To Tame a Wild Lady. And […]

Review: Disorderly Conduct – Tessa Bailey

Review: Disorderly Conduct – Tessa Bailey

Disorderly Conduct was a fun read, sweet romance, with protagonists who were sure they didn’t want a real relationship. (un)conventionally short: Charlie and Ever both thought they’d be better off without a serious relationship. Until Charlie started thinking differently. Disorderly Conduct is quite humorous, and there is more to the story than meets the eyes at the beginning. Both Charlie and Ever think love is more a complication than anything else. Thus, the no-strings relationship they agree to from the start. The fact that the relationship seemed to be doomed at first made it even sweeter when it started to develop into something deeper. I loved the shenanigans Charlie entered to make sure Ever wouldn’t start dating someone who wasn’t […]

Review: F*ck Love – Tarryn Fisher

Review: F*ck Love – Tarryn Fisher

F*ck Love was like a blast to the heart in many ways – and I felt so much for Helena – like the whole spectre of feels was present thanks to her. (un)conventionally short: Yeah, exactly that! A real quick review, even if F*ck Love deserves a long-winded one. I am just so very late in writing reviews these days. This story was almost like a parallel universe at the beginning, I wasn’t sure what was real and what was not. Helena was in a relationship that she wasn’t fully happy in. She needed to ask herself some important questions in order to move forward with her life. The Writing in F*ck Love is fantastic, Fisher spins beautiful stories with […]

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Van sure had a troubled past that managed to make his present kind of murky as well. But Simone – she was really something, and totally open to tear his walls apart, while also grabbing him out of his shell. Story: These two characters were like water and oil at first, and then, suddenly bam! they were rather like dynamite. Both Van and Simone were strong minded, and they knew what they wanted, or didn’t want as it were. Simone wanted to get to know Van better… much, much better. And he was good with keeping her and everyone else at arm’s length. Little by little, both Simone and Van shed their public persona and shared some of their secrets. […]

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve – Jill Shalvis

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve – Jill Shalvis

Chasing Christmas Eve was a nice story, back with the gang in Heartbreaker Bay. Colbie and Spence were fun, even if they both thought they sucked at love! Story: Chasing Christmas Eve includes a main character who’s an author, and  I love those kinds of stories. Possibly because I love reading. And getting a peek into how an author might feel when the pressure is high just makes me feel very strongly for all of them. Shalvis managed to bring all her characters to life, and I really had a good time with them all. Colbie and Spence’s first meeting was humorous, because Spence had gone out to have a break from work. And he did so by walking one […]

Review: His Convenient Husband – Robin Covington

Review: His Convenient Husband – Robin Covington

His Convenient Husband is more than a romance, as the story shows how difficult it can be to be in the spotlight. How queer people get dragged into fights they need to fight not just for themselves, but for others as well. Story: I enjoyed His Convenient Husband a lot! There was both sports, art and romance, and I felt a deep connection to Isiah. He had been existing more than living since his husband’s death, and meeting Victor woke something deep inside of him. Raising a son on his own, while playing ball and keeping the team director and sponsors happy was hard already. Once he met Victor, things just became harder. As I said in my grabber, His […]

Review: Lies Jane Austen Told Me – Julie Wright

Review: Lies Jane Austen Told Me – Julie Wright

Lie Jane Austen Told Me kind of blew me away. I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading, but whatever it was, I got much more! Story: Lies Jane Austen Told Me is Emma’s story. How she kept her rose colored glasses firmly in place looking for her happily ever after. Possibly she looked for this in the wrong places, though, and suddenly, she wanted to distance herself from everything and anything that had to do with her former heroine. Especially after she showed up at her boyfriend’s place to surprise him. And found him having dinner with another woman. One of the themes in Lies Jane Austen Told Me is to find oneself. But it’s also about […]

Review: Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Lucas’ story was a bit frustrating at times, both because Stephanie was so closed off, and because it stopped rather abruptly – only to go straight to a kind of epilogue including Van rather than either Lucas or Stephanie. Story: Lucas was a story I had really looked forward to, so it might be that my expectations were a bit high. Cold Fury Hockey is one of my favorite series, and Bennett usually manages to sweep me off my feet immediately. The romance here was quite unconventional, because the two protagonists met at a party and agreed to a no strings hot night of sex. Which was all good and fun until there was a condom malfunction. Stephanie grew up […]

Review: Cherish Hard – Nalini Singh

Review: Cherish Hard – Nalini Singh

Cherish Hard brought me some very down-to-earth characters, they were fiercely loyal, had strong hearts, and were willing to take a big chance in order to have love in their lives. Story: Both Sailor and Ìsa had some demons from their past to fight, but Cherish Hard didn’t make that the main thing of their story, and that helped me enjoy them even more. Because they wanted to break with their family’s tradition, Ìsa worked as a teacher, rather than as the VP of her mother’s company. And Sailor gave his landscaping business his all. He would live on nothing but hard work and sweat to make his business a success. Their first meeting had me melting. Ìsa was at […]
