Review: Rock F*ck Club – Michelle Mankin

Rock F*ck Club is a hot little number, where a woman takes back control and goes on a quest of rock stars to take back power and control. Rock F*ck Club started with Raven seeing something that can’t be unseen – her rockstar boyfriend with another girl. Totally doing it, and then asking her to join in so as to not be a bore. At first, she was devastated, but then she decided that she really should live things up and be less boring. But only on her own terms, not someone else’s. Strong, empowered women are often seen as bullies, sluts, ‘manly’, noisy… Rock F*ck Club managed to take the slut part out of the equation, even as Raven […]

Review: Tempting Tempo – Michelle Mankin

Review: Tempting Tempo – Michelle Mankin

Tempting Tempo is a strong, fast-paced story in which Mel needs to reassess her choices, while Sager has to stand strong in the face of adversity. I’m a huge fan of The Tempest series, and I have to say that Sager and Mel’s story just might be my favorite! It deals with some very important subject matters, some that are dear to my heart, and important to talk about. Body image and eating disorders – even when it comes to elite sports people, can be a big problem. And not being able to reign in a diet and have things escalate can happen much faster than most of us on the outside can ever understand. Add in a sexy rocker, […]

Review : Dream Magic – Michelle Mankin

Review : Dream Magic – Michelle Mankin

Dream Magic is the stunning second instalment in Mankin’s Magic series. The paranormal world the story unfolds in is complex, with characters that are multi-faceted and enticing. I loved Strange Magic, and I’m happy to say that Dream Magic is even better! The world was expanded, and all the characters showed other facets of themselves than they did in the first book. With the intricacies of both the universe and the mythology, Mankin managed to bring her characters to the next level, while keeping me on the edge of my seat for the duration of the story at the same time. I loved that the first part of the book included several new to me characters, while those I had […]

Review: Strange Magic – Michelle Mankin

Strange Magic started out not very magical at all, however, as the story unfolded, magic became strong and ever-present. Mankin really has a way with words, reading her stories always brings me to a magical realm, and that was even more true with Strange Magic. There is mythology, ghosts, greek gods, mystery, music, and a very strong love. Billy was a lost soul, but in the beginning, I thought he was ‘just another rock-star’ – and know that I love stories with musicians! – but there was much more to him than met the eyes. Thyme was a young girl who felt slightly out of place, but still confident in what she was doing and the people she loved and […]

Review: Relentless Rhythm – Michelle Mankin

Review: Relentless Rhythm – Michelle Mankin

Relentless Rhythm is the darkest and saddest story in the Tempest series by far! Dizzy amazed me, and April had an inner strength as well my heart swelled for these two characters, and Mankin frankly outdid herself. In the earlier stories about rock band Tempest, Dizzy was mostly in the background, seen with different girls, but never the same girl twice. In Relentless Rhythm, it seemed he had finally set his eyes on a woman, but of course, it was a woman he couldn’t have. As Dizzy’s past unfolded, I was so sad for him, it was so heartbreaking. And he still seemed so calm and controlled on the surface, never really caring about much, doing his thing, playing his […]

Review: Captivating Bridge – Michelle Mankin

Review: Captivating Bridge – Michelle Mankin

Captivating Bridge broke my heart into a thousand pieces, and it even did it more than once! War… so lost and sad and lonely, and Shaina, equally lost, but strong and full of love. The two of them together could have either completely tanked or become stronger than a diamond! I started reading Captivating Bridge ready to hate War and not really enjoy his story all that much. He was volatile in the earlier stories in the Tempest series, and I thought he acted like a jerk more often than not – both with his band-mates and with his girlfriend and the groupies. In this story, though, he was ready to just let go and not try to fight another […]

Review: Irresistible Refrain – Michelle Mankin

Review: Irresistible Refrain – Michelle Mankin

Irresistible Refrain is an irresistible story of a broken girl and the boy she’s loved since she was little. Music, a fast-paced life and the fact that she’s with his best friend instead of him made this so compelling! Lace was so very lost, and being back in the Tempest tour bus didn’t really change any of that. Even as she had been away from the band for a long time, she picked up her relationship with War as soon as she came back, even if Bryan was looking at her differently than usual at this time. Irresistible Refrain showed the ugly side of the music industry, especially when it came to War and Lace. Drug-use, not taking care of […]

Review: Enticing Interlude – Michelle Mankin

Review: Enticing Interlude – Michelle Mankin

Enticing Interlude was definitely enticing, and if not for the way Bridget reacted when a stranger (to her) told her lies about Justin, I’d have given this 5 stars – but that just frustrated me too much! Enticing Interlude is Justin’s story, as he takes over as lead vocalist in Tempest after War leaves the band behind in a fit. At first, it’s hard for Justin to find his place, especially because Bryan is weary of him and the connection he has to Lace. When Lace’s friend from rehab, Bridget, arrives with her young son, however, Justin is completely taken with both of them. And he finally understands that having one-night-stands with groupies will never make him happy. Bridget has […]

Review: Love Resolution – Michelle Mankin

Review: Love Resolution – Michelle Mankin

Love Resolution showed me all the trouble Avery and Marcus went through, and while I really enjoyed their story, some of it was a bit too much. My Love Resolution review: I was so happy when I realized that Love Resolution was going to be a second story featuring Avery and Marcus, as I really fell for both of them in Love Evolution. Of course, there was trouble in paradise, especially because Marcus started being nervous about the tour, the press and how Avery would be able to deal with things. However, instead of sharing his fears with her, he pushed her away, and then became jealous when he saw her dancing with Bryan from their opening band Tempest. Love […]

Review: Love Revolution – Michelle Mankin

Review: Love Revolution – Michelle Mankin

Love Revolution had a bit too much drama for my taste, even if I enjoyed the characters and the overall story just fine. My Love Revolution review: So, a bit much drama made Love Revolution less enjoyable to me, and so did the fact that we followed two couples instead of one. This made me feel like I didn’t have enough time with either couple, and thus, I didn’t really get to know the characters as well as I would have liked. What little I did to see of Sarah made her seem very controlling, both of her environment (and the people around her) in general, and also over her little sister, Samantha. Luckily, I got to know why she […]
