Haylee Tremayne is tired of the road. The concert tour for Three of Hearts was a success, but she’s confused by the inexplicable tension between her bandmates, Ben and Lucas. She’s also ready to go home to her boyfriend in Nashville. Time off would probably help everyone relax, even if it is Christmas, a season with too many bad memories.
But right before their last concert, Haylee discovers she’s been dumped for a sexy girly-girl. Story of her life: all guys see is tomboy Haylee. At the after-concert party, she drowns her sorrows and—desperate to feel feminine for once in her life—asks Ben and Lucas for a threesome. And it’s just as sexy and fun as she hoped.
Back in Nashville, Ben and Lucas prove again and again that their first night wasn’t a mistake. But the tension between them is still high, and on Christmas Eve, their ménage takes a stunning turn. When it all falls apart, Haylee is terrified that their crazy relationship might cost them the band, their success, and worst of all, each other.
Hotter than hot, three musicians finally act on the feelings they have for each other in Three of Hearts.
My Three of Hearts review:
Between Haylee, Ben and Lucas, there has always been a kind of tension, but Haylee has always brushed it off as a strong friendship and a common love for their music. At the beginning of Three of Hearts, when Haylee found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her, she thought she wasn’t going to be able to go through with their last concert, but Ben and Lucas managed to get her to be angry rather than sad, and it was their best concert ever. After the concert, she drinks a little too much, but not enough to be impaired, and when both Ben and Lucas bring her back to her room, the only thing she can think about is the fact that she knows the two of them have enjoyed threesomes in the past. And she wants to know how that feels.
The three of them sharing a hot night of passion completely changes the dynamics of their trio, of course, and Three of Hearts really shows that friendship can take a hard turn when sex is mixed in on top of everything else. Their relationships change, becoming both more complex and more complicated, but there is a lot of love mixed in with the lust, and the story was well crafted, showing that it is completely possible to love more than one person at the same time.
The difficulties they all face because they keep some of their thoughts to themselves are evident, and especially Haylee is afraid the guys only used her in order to get closer to each other. Unconventional in many ways, Three of Hearts appealed to me because of the love and respect the three characters showed each other at all times, and there was definitely more to the story than the hot sex. It might not be for the faint of heart, though, because the action happens between all of them, M/F/M and M/M/F, and if I had read this a few years ago, I might have been too shocked to finish reading. Now, I just enjoyed a beautiful story about a relationship that’s outside society’s ‘normal’ boundaries.
Written in first person point of view, past tense, from Haylee’s perspective she’s the character I got to know the best, but she also kept things both from Ben and Lucas, and from me as a reader. Between the dialogues, the sexy action and the music, Three of Hearts is a story I recommend to readers who enjoy reading stories with relationships that are quite different.
Some of my favorite Three of Hearts quotes:
But I wasn’t comfortable. The short skirt rode high on my thighs. I tried to ignore it, but they kept glancing at my legs. At me. My skin tightened. My nerves twitched. The air thickened. Awareness vibrated around me.
Lucas and Ben were looking at me as if they wanted to eat me up, and that was… exciting. No. I mean, that was wrong. We didn’t have that kind of relationship.
Both guys drew in a sharp breath. For a few painful seconds, I hoped like hell I hadn’t misread their signals.
Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
This sounds like a great read Lexie. It sounds like there is a lot of growth with all these characters throughout the book. You have me curious as to what Haylee was keeping from everyone. Great review!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Such a good and hot story, Naomi, right down your alley, too 😉
Great review! This sounds like a book for me, so it´s now on my TBR-list. Have a wonderful monday, it´s raining cats and dogs here, so it´s a perfect day for reading 🙂
I really hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, Anette!
Great review ! Reading what you wrote, I could remember feeling that way when I read the first book of her Rule of three series (just one book would have been enough, but #1 was great).
I need to read more of her books for sure, Iza, because I really enjoyed this one 🙂
OHMAGAWD…this looks so good but how is it only 160 pages!?!?!?! Anyway, I love stories with unique relationships and I’m adding this one now. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this one! GAH…fabulous review!
I know, right? Short, hot and well done. I hope you’ll enjoy it, too, Cristina!

Oh, I’m so happy this was a good read, Lexxie. I was hoping it was going to be. It’s definitely going on my tbr. It sounds like something I’ll love. It seems an unconventional love for sure, but that the characters show their love and respect for one another is wonderful.
