Have you ever set out to have a one night stand with a sexy stranger?
No? I’m the only one?
Just kidding, I would never.
Ever.
Not usually.
But then I figured, why not? My entire life I’ve been good and it’s gotten me nowhere.
No job.
No apartment.
No boyfriend.
I’m owed a little fun, aren’t I? A reward for being good.
Sure, a new pair of shoes would be more appropriate, but Mr. Sexy Stranger is more appealing. And when he speaks—in that British accent—it’s a done deal. Every American woman has a hot British guy fantasy. Well, most do. I haven't taken a poll or anything, but I’m pretty sure it’s a fact.
Except…
You know that saying about best-laid plans?
Good, because I don’t either, but I assume they go awry.
Like my one night stand…

Sure Thing made me laugh out loud more than once, and it also made me swoon. The mix of humour and steaminess was perfectly balanced!

Story:

Violet steps in for her identical twin, Daisy, for a historical tour at the tour company where she works. At the hotel bar the first evening, Violet decides to try some seducing advice on the sexy stranger across the bar. After reading about a trick of  three seconds of eye-contact, then a smile, she wants to see if it works. And boy, does it work. Soon after, she receives a new drink, and the stranger comes to sit with her.

Aston is very good at romcom, she mixes humour and hotness seamlessly, and it makes for very good stories. I enjoyed the fact that Violet was doing her best to impersonate her sister, all the while falling for the Brit she had picked up in the bar. It made for more than one uncomfortable situation, but it also made for some good laughs.

Characters:

Violet was a bit insecure, and usually a planner. However with this trip, she had made the decision to be more of a pantser – it worked for Daisy, so why not her, right? What she didn’t plan for, however, was falling for Jennings, and wanting him to call her by her real name.

Jennings was a very sexy Brit, and he also fell head over heels. He had reservations about Daisy, who had first told him her name was Rose, though, but at the same time, he, too had kept a big secret from her.

Violet wants a one-night-stand, and she thinks she’s picked the perfect man to have one. She just got much more than she bargained for, and it made for such pleasurable reading.

Writing style :

First person, present time, with dual perspectives following Jennings and Violet, I was happy being right in the middle of the action with them!

Feels :

Mostly, I was a very happy reader, and the steamy scenes fogged up my glasses, so those were definitely good as well 😉

Fave Quotes - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Do you know what’s great about British men? Everything. I mean, I’ve never met one before this and they’re likely no different than American men, but the accent. It’s everything, right? You can say it’s a cliche or whatever, but come on. It’s panty-meltingly good.

“So how do you want to do this?” I ask her as I close the distance between us. I stop before her and when she doesn’t move I untuck my hands and trail one finger along the shell of her ear. She bites her bottom lip between her teeth. “Naked,” she replies earnestly, flicking her eyes from mine to my chest. “I’d like to do it naked.” I’m definitely keeping her all night.

  1. Oh this sounds like a sexy read. Glad that you enjoyed it. I need to check out this author though. She’s new to me. Thanks for sharing. Awesome review, as always. Love how you structure it. ❤️?

  2. I love the idea of identical twins (without it becoming a fetish kind of thing). I actually knew a set of identical twin guys in the mid-twenties (I was in high school and worked at the barn their father owned). They used to change places with each other all the time (even on international trips). I could tell them apart very quickly if I was around them enough, but if they disappeared for a while, I would have to relearn each. Great review.

    • LOL I agree, if it becomes a fetish thing it’s just weird IMO. That wasn’t the case here, though. It was just funny. I knew two sets of identical twins when I was in primary school, two guys and two girls. They had a lot of fun pretending to be the other and confusing their teachers 😀

  3. Hahaha this book sounds like so much fun. I love stories where twins switch places (though I haven’t read too many of those yet). And the British guy doesn’t sound too bad either. ?

  4. I’m happy you enjoyed Sure Thing, Lex. I did as well – Aston just has a knack for rom-com. I laughed out loud and I definitely swooned. You know I’m a bit of an Anglophile myself. 😉 My review posts tomorrow.
Hope your visit to Norway is/has been lovely! I’ve gotta get online to stalk Hercules. 😛
    {{{BIG HUGS}}} & smooches & love!

    • She sure does! I both laughed and swooned, too 🙂 Heh, you better come to Europe so we can be Anglophiles together – in the UK 😉
Norway was great, and Hercules and Freddy actually get along well – playing like crazy, then sleeping.

  5. I just read Brandee’s review and knew you had written one too so I came to read yours. I wanted to click on the Amazon button so one of you would get credit but I couldn’t find one? I’ve loved all of her books! Thanks!
