Top Ten Tuesday #12 – Tough Subjects

Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten books dealing with a difficult subject This week on Top Ten Tuesday, we share the Top Ten books we have read that deal with a difficult subject. The subject can be suicide, abuse, drug-use or something that is difficult to us personally. Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go : As usual, my list is in no particular order : The Truth About Lilly Barnes by Kimberly Russell is […]

Sidekick Saturday #3 – Fiery

Sidekick Saturday #3 – Fiery

Sidekick Saturday #3 – Fiery Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: • Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week’s type • Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character • Give the title and author of a book the character can be […]

Review: This Girl (Slammed #3) – Colleen Hoover

Review: This Girl (Slammed #3) – Colleen Hoover

*I received a free ARC of This Girl form Atria via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* This Girl is such a wonderful book I’m almost at a loss for words! The third book in the Slammed trilogy continues after the last events in Point of Retreat, but there are some flashbacks when Will tells Lake about his feelings during the tumultuous start of their relationship. It is so beautiful to see how Will was feeling, and what he was thinking, from the first time he saw Lake arrive across the street, to much later in the story. I have to admit I was a little scared to read this book – how in the world could it live […]

Review: Runes – Ednah Walters

Review: Runes – Ednah Walters

*I received a free ARC of Runes from Firetail Publishing via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.* Runes is the story of Raine, and how she deals with her life when everything she thought of as normal ends up not being all that normal after all. Runes is a descriptive title as well, as there is Norse mythology, seemingly young people using a knife-like instrument to make runes with, and Raine trying to figure out what it all means. Review: Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3) – Cassandra Clare

Review: Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3) – Cassandra Clare

The Clockwork Princess starts with a prologue, and ends with an epilogue. Especially the prologue feels a little out of place, and even if it made sense to mention what happens there, it also confused me and made it take longer before I made it into the actual story. Usually, if there is either a prologue or an epilogue, it’s to add important information to the story that doesn’t really fit into the main-frame, however, especially the prologue felt too out of place, and the epilogue could have easily been a part of the actual story. Clockwork Princess picks up very shortly after the end of Clockwork Prince, and Jem is still not doing very well. Will is still being […]

Review: Temptation – Kathryn Barrett

Review: Temptation – Kathryn Barrett

*I received a free ARC of Temptation from Entangled Publishing via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review* Temptation is a beautiful story, about temptation, courage and love. Laura arrives in Pennsylvania to film her next movie, and little does she know how much temptation she will find in Amish country. When she first meets Jacob, she only wants to order a crib for her niece, and she notices how much he is a man – even if he is very different from all the men she has met before.
