LGBT Challenge 2015
Cayce of Niji Feels is hosting a year-long LGBT Challenge once more for 2015! In 2014, I happened upon a monthly challenge within the challenge, and I vowed that I would participate in the full length challenge for 2015 – so here I am – signing up for yet another awesome challenge.
You can find the full details in Cayce’s sign-up post, but here’s a quick run-through of the rules and stuff:
- The LGBT Challenge runs from January 1 through December 31 2015
- There will be a mini-challenge or a read-a-thon or something similar each month
- No genre restrictions (which is good for me, because I have some LGBT erotica I want to read;) )
- To sign up, you need to post a sign-up post, and you have to have a blog for this challenge
I have decided to go for the omnivorous bookglutton level – it really is telling about me, for one, and I think reading 10+ books with an LGBT theme during 2015 is completely do-able. If you want to check out what kind of books I might read for the challenge, you can take a look at my LGBT shelf on Goodreads.
You should sign up as well! Cayce is an excellent host, and I discovered some really good LGBT stories thanks to her in 2014 – some that I will read for the 20115 LGBT Challenge.

I love this idea. If I hadn’t already signed up for too many other challenges, I would so do this one.
That’s too bad, Melanie! Maybe you can make it work with another challenge? I have a couple of LGBT reads that qualify for COYER, so I may read those during COYER, and have them count for both challenges 🙂

“omnivorous bookglutton level” is not bad. Go for it, Lexxie! I plan on incorporating more historical romances to my reading Rolodex next year.
Yeah, I’m definitely omnivore when it comes to books, Braine. I love that you’re adding more historical romances to your reads next year – I love the nostalgic feel to the romance in those 🙂
Hooray! I’m glad you’re joining us! This challenge, and LGBT books in general, need more love! I’m going for the same level, but I really want to read 30-40 books to double what I’ve read in previous years.
Yeah, I’m very happy I was able to sign up in time for next year, Angie! I might read more as well, but I’ll need to add more books to my shelves. Maybe I’ll stalk yours a little 😉
Don’t laugh, but I have to go and Google what LBGT means…lol I think I know, but I have to make sure. As soon as I get home, I’ll be back around and see if I can make this one, as long as audio is allowed 😉 I was right, I just saw the books on goodreads. I have to be honest, I have not listened to many of these (just 2) but I’m open to expending my horizon, now it’s just a matter of how many I can find on audio. I been tweeting about these books from peeps from tribber and I never knew for sure what they were all about.. Lol
I wouldn’t laugh, Loupe, when I first started seeing the LGBT label, I wasn’t completely sure either, even if I kind of got the gist of it.
David Levithan’s books are on audible… Hopefully, there are more – I would love for you to be able to participate!
*sigh* Okay, I’m feeling another is challenge in my future, Lexxie. I have some LGBT books on my shelves and I’d planned to read them in 2015 anyway…so, doing it for a challenge should work great! 🙂 Thanks for sharing this challenge! *BIG HUGS*
Yes! You should definitely sign up, Brandee! If you have some LGBT books on your shelves you’ve planned to read anyway, there’s really no excuse 😉 I discovered many great-looking LGBT books only during the month of April when I did the mini-challenge, and I’m really happy about branching out like that 🙂 *BIG HUGS*
Thank you for signing up and spreading the word, Lexxie!! I look forward to reading your posts/reviews and hope you have fun with the challenge! 🙂
I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun with the challenge, I was so grateful I found the mini-challenge in April, I love expanding my reading horizons, Cayce.
I love this challenge! Although, ten LGBT themed books won’t be a problem for me so personally I’m aiming higher but I feel like this challenge will push me to do even better. And I can’t wait for the mini-challenges and read-a-thons with others! I’ll stalk your shelf a little and hopefully I’ll find some new books to add mine 🙂
Happy New Year, Lexxie! 🙂
I love this challenge, too, Henna. And I think I’ll probably read more than 10 LGBT themed books, too, it happens sometimes that I pick up a book and don’t realize in advance that it is LGBT themed, and I think that’s really great.
I have been stalking some shelves lately, too, to make sure I have more than enough to choose from 🙂
