Feature and Follow #50 -Preferred Reading Format

YAY it’s Friday! Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!

What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via e-mail, RSS / Bloglovin’ or Google+; or you can like my facebook page, or even follow me on Twitter.

What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

pile of books (un)Conventional Bookviewsor iPad Kindle - (un)Conventional Bookviews ?

For the past five or six years, I read almost exclusively e-books. Either on my kindle, or with different kinds of apps on my iPad. Even before I could buy e-books, I bought almost all my books and had them shipped form the US – as I read a lot, I spent a lot of money in shipping cost, rather than on actual books. However, since I don’t live in a country where English is the main language (even, there are four official languages in Switzerland : French, German, Romanch and Italian) it was difficult to get English books back then. Also, I always have all my books with me – inside of a device, I can carry five hundred books with me at all times! If a book doesn’t appeal to me straight away, I can just pick another. When I finish one book, the next in line is right there!

What about you? What’s your preferred reading format?

Thanks for stopping by today 🙂 Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.

  1. I still love paperbacks, but I am running out of room to put books and I have a hard time getting rid of them once I buy them. I am sort of a packrat, so e-books help me keep down the piles of books trailing up the side of my stairs, etc. 🙂 It’s not really that I prefer them it’s more a matter of space. 🙂

    • Yeah, that’s how it was for me before, and I actually even had books in boxes in my basement. That is just sad! So I have given away a lot of books, and even especially books I love – to share those special stories with others… and promptly buy the e-book version of the same book so that I still have it as well 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Stormi!

    • True, I didn’t think about the highlighting – that’s a feature I use very often, it makes it easier to pull out quotes for my reviews 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Kaykay 🙂

  2. Jessica@a GREAT read

Well that’s a good reason for you! 😀

I have an ereader and like it a lot. It’s great for earcs and novellas and other reads, but I still love holding the real book!

    Here’s my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I actually feel like a ‘real’ books is a bit clunky now. I do still read some paperbacks, though, mostly for class, as we all need to have the same edition.

Thanks for stopping by Jessica 🙂 Happy reading.

    • Oh, I didn’t even count how many I have on iBooks and others like Bluefire… I don’t think it’s a good idea to do it either, a lot of those books on my kindle haven’t had the pleasure to be read yet 😉

Thanks for stopping by Linsey 🙂

    • I can understand that, Shane, for a long time, I was feeling a little paper-deprived when I started using my kindle. Now, though, a book feels heavy when I have a ‘real’ one in my hands.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • If I could get books from the library, I probably would read more paperbacks or hard-copies, too!

      Thanks for stopping by, Liesel.

  3. Well, you know how much I enjoy being able to one-click, Lexxie! 😉 Although I do prefer physical books, I do like the convenience of reading ebooks. Particularly the fact that I can change the size of the font! 🙂 I’ve also enjoyed that I can immediately get the next book in the series (as long as it’s published) when I finish one – even if it’s the wee hours of the morning.

    • Oh, yes, clicking for the next in the series is awesome! And changing the font is definitely a plus I didn’t think of when I wrote my post.

      Thanks for stopping by Brandee!

  4. CJ

I have never thought about ebooks in conjunction with shipping before. I love being able to get a book instantly, but honestly could just as easily walk to my nearest bookseller and buy a print copy. That is awesome that you don;t have to wait for book to be shipped overseas now! Yay technology!!

    • I know! I love technology for that reason as well – instant gratification is very… gratifying 😉

      Thanks for stopping by CJ!

  5. Yes! E-books are definitely my favorite. I love that I can carry so many around with me too. When one book just isn’t working for you, but you’re at work or out of the house, it’s so easy to switch to something else or to just pull up some quotes you love from another book that you want to rehash. I hope you are having a great week! Thank you so much for visiting my FF. See you tomorrow 😀 Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.

    • Yes, changing the book I’m currently reading is another definite plus as well.

Thanks for stopping by Jaclyn 🙂

  6. LOL I remember when I got my first kindle! I was so excited – it’s quite heavy, and there was no wifi on it, I had to get books either through 3G or via the computer 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Angelica! I hope your weekend was good 🙂
