COYER Winter 2014 Challenge Sign-up

Yet again, the fantastic Berls of Fantasy is More Fun and Michelle from Because Reading is More Fun are hosting a COYER challenge. COYER stands for Clean Out Your E-Reader, and I always, always need help in that department. I am a notorious one-clicker, and I also have a lot of trouble staying away from Netgalley and Edelweiss. There are so many great-looking books I would like to read, and I seem to think I’ll be able to read them all. As of today, I have over 700 books on my kindle that I haven’t read yet. Some of those are e-ARCs, others are freebies, even more are cheap books, and some are full-price. And they are all so pretty.

In order to participate, you need to sign up either at Berl’s blog, or at Michelle’s blog. And let me tell you the COYER challenge is a lot of fun! I have met some great bloggers thanks to past challenges, and I have also managed to read a lot of the e-books that had been hiding on my kindle for a while. There are mini-challenges, twitter-parties, link-ups and lots of great conversations, too.

Of course, the COYER challenge does have some rules, here are the most important ones – you can find the full list in the official sign-up places with Michelle and Berls – in my mind:

  • You have to read e-books only for them to count towards your challenge. Both kindle/nook/kobo/pdf and other e-formats for reads are permitted, as are audiobooks.
  • The books have to be either free, or very cheap. The upper limit is $2.99.

Once you have read and reviewed a book, you can link to your review in the official link-ups, you don’t have to have a blog to participate, you can link to Goodreads, Booklikes or Leafmarks as well as a personal blog.

My Winter COYER goals:

  • Since the challenge will last from December 20th through March 6th, I know I will have a lot of time off from classes during that time, so I’ll do my best to read a lot of the very cheap or free books I’ve amassed on my kindle. Therefore, I will aim to read 35 books for this COYER challenge.
  • I will try to participate in at least one of the Twitter-parties, because those are so much fun.
  • Visit many other blogs through the challenge. I hope I’ll find a few new ones I’ll enjoy and follow them in the future.
  • Participate in one or two mini-challenges. Possibly host a challenge if I can come up with a good idea.

So that’s it for me. Are you participating in the 2014 Winter COYER Challenge? If you haven’t participated before, I really can recommend it – it’s a great way to make your e-reader a little lighter. And the sense of community among the challenge participants goes on even when there are no current challenges going on.

    • YAY for being the first to sign up! I’ve been excited about this COYER challenge ever since you gals told me there would be a long one for the winter ๐Ÿ™‚ And the community is truly amazing! I have met so many great bloggers thanks to it!
Have a great day, Berls ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Braine, you should totally sign up! If your goal is to read five books, you’d be sure to be able to do it, since it lasts for over two months! And it’s a lot of fun to check out everybody else’s books and reviews.
On amazon, you can check how much you paid for books, even if it’s a little tedious to do so. I actually have a ‘freebie’ and ‘$0.99’ shelf on Goodreads, because sometimes, I get a book just because it’s free or very cheap, and I want to be able to know which ones it is… All ARCs are good too, I think – we do get those for free, so usually they count for COYER.
      Thanks for stopping by.

    • LOL, Michelle! I have SO many free and cheap books already on my kindle, I could have set my goal higher! But I want to try to read some new books, or books that cost more too during the time the challenge lasts, so 35 should be OK.
I’m really excited, too! And very happy it’s going to last for over two months.
      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Yes, it’s a great challenge, and I’ve discovered several blogs thanks to it as well ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for stopping by, Angie!

  1. Yay! Happy you’re joining again as well! I am joining too, but my sign-up post won’t be live until next month. Joining one of the twitter parties is one of my goals this time as well, I managed to miss all the summer coyer twitter parties and am determined to finally join one of the twitter parties.

Lola recently posted: Read Play Blog #4
    • I’m happy you’re joining again as well, Lola. I wasn’t able to do any of the twitter parties last time, but in the spring challenge, I did – and it was a lot of fun.
I’m looking forward to seeing your sign-up post next month ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for stopping by.

    • I couldn’t have posted the books now, because the challenge only starts in a month – what if I wanted to read one of the books right now? LOL
I think I’ll do a Historical Romance challenge – something like three HRs in three weeks or something similar.
      Thanks for stopping by, Stormi.

    • Ja, bli med du ogsรฅ, Lexie! Det er mye bra som skjer mens vi leser billige og gratis bรธker, og ๐Ÿ™‚
      Ha en fin kveld!

    • That’s too bad, Jennifer! COYER is one of the only challenges I manage to do well on, I have so many cheap and free books on my kindle it’s not even funny!
      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Yes! I’m participating…gotta get my sign up post done. I did nothing on my blog this weekend. I’m looking forward to making a dent – if only a small one – in the many, many books I have on my ereaders. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m going to have to carefully consider the number…35, huh? I know you’ll accomplish that. I can’t wait to see what you pick!

    **BIG HUGS**

    • I think I’m just going to pick and choose as I go, Brandee. I’m not too good at planning in advance what to read when ๐Ÿ˜€
I’m so happy you’re participating again, too! *BIG UGS*
