Up Close and (un)Conventional #7 – Organization

Up Close and (un)Conventional #7 – Organization

Up Close and (un)Conventional #7 – Organization Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional, I’m going to talk about organization and reading. I got the idea from the lovely Charlotte of Thougths and Pens who is hosting Thursdays with Luxa, and I’m signing up this discussion post there so that more people might see it. Charlotte gave me the idea when she commented on my COYER wrap-up post, where she said that she was sure that my kindle was 95% cleared out because I read and reviewed 40 books during the vacation challenge, and I just had to check how many books I still had on my TBR shelf. I still own 489 books that are on my kindle […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional #6 – Blogger Rant

Up Close and (un)Conventional #6 – Blogger Rant Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. Not even a whole week has passed since the last one, but I wanted to sign up on Charlotte’s DiscussionThursday With Luxa, especially because I noticed something today (again) when I visited some blogging friends of mine who use the Blogger platform. On Blogger, those who sometimes, or oftentimes post reviews or other posts that need to be labeled as being for those over 18 years old, either because of sexy talk, or something else that might be thought of as offensive, need to check a little box. And that means that each time I visit one of those blogs, I have to click […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional #5 – Vacation

Up Close and (un)Conventional #5 – Vacation Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. I have decided that my Up close and (un)Conventional this time is not going to be about anything bookish at all, since I really want to share some pictures from our last vacation with you all. My husband, my two youngest kids and I went to Mallorca for a week, and it was so nice! We stayed in an all-inclusive hotel, and it was pretty cheap because we decided to go just a week or so before the actual vacation. Mallorca is a beautiful island that belongs to Spain, and the water is beautifully transparent in this part of the Mediterranean, and we got some […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional #4 – Friends from the Internet

Up Close and (un)Conventional #4 – Friends from the Internet Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. Today, I want to talk about all the wonderful people we meet online. We have great discussions, we enjoy many of the same things, and we get along very well. I have two reasons that made me want to chat about friends from the internet, one is that BEA was on not long ago, and I know a lot of bloggers who got to meet each other for real for the first time. And I know they were happy about it, excited, and then sad to say goodbye. Several years ago, during the TV show Lost, I became friends with lots of […]

Up close and (un)Conventional #4 – London and The Globe Experience

Up close and (un)Conventional #4 – London and The Globe Experience

Up Close and (un)Conventional #4 – London and The Globe Experience Welcome to this very short and concise Up Close and (un)Conventional. Since Tuesday morning, I’ve been in London, and I’ve seen two Shakespeare plays at the famous Globe Theatre on the South Bank. Our schedule is extremely busy, so I will write more about this awesome experience later on, but I wanted to check in and say I’m sorry I’m not around this week, and also share some first impressions. On Tuesday night, we watched a very brutal rendering of Titus Andronicus, several people in the yard in front of the stage actually fainted because it was so bloody. It was awesome, though, the smells, the sounds, the live […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional #3 – Travel

Up Close and (un)Conventional #3 – Travel Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. One thing I love to do as much as I love reading is to travel! My husband and I traveled quite a lot when we first met, and I was more or less traveling when we met, too. I was supposed to go to Geneva for one year to learn French, but we met when I had only been here a few weeks, and I kind of never got myself back to Norway again. We have visited many places in Europe, and for that we’re so lucky to live in the middle of Europe – nothing is very far from Switzerland, and it’s very easy […]

Discussion Thursdays with Luxa: When Favorite Books have Babies

Thursdays with Luxa, formerly known as Let’s Discuss, is a weekly post hosted by Thoughts and Pens. Since she took over, Charlotte has changed the name to Thursdays with Luxa if you want to find it on her blog. You can link up to your discussion post at Charlotte’s blog, and also visit other posts and participate in the discussions they are having. When you link up, it should be to a post made in the past seven days, even if Thoughts and Pens post hers every Thursday. You don’t have to post weekly discussion posts, and you can […]
