A sexy and intense prequel to the Edge Series.

There's a war going on.

I need to pay attention to my job, not the surgeon. Not his sky-blue eyes or the confidence in his hands. Not the smile under his mask or the way it fits on his jaw.

And doctor or not, gorgeous or not, only a complete jerk would drop his pants in front of me just as a show of dominance.

But he's a force of nature, and I don't think I can resist him much longer.

It's not until I'm the casualty and he's standing over me that I realize I love him.

I want to tell him before I go under. Just a few words before we're separated.

But it might be too late.

The Cutting Edge served to prove how adept at writing compelling stories Reiss is. She not only put me in a combat hospital in Balad by drawing images to vivid they were visceral, she also drew characters I’m completely invested in.

This is my first series by Reiss, and I just don’t understand why I waited so long! I agree – those images were visceral, and the characters hooked me very quickly!

I admit to going into The Cutting Edge blind, wifey. Reiss is an auto-buy so I didn’t even remember/know what the story was about when I started it. However, she gripped me immediately and didn’t let go. She delivered a compelling, at times gut-wrenching, at times humorous, at times HOT story of Caden and Greyson falling for one another in the least likely place. What did you think of the circumstances under which Caden and Greyson met and fell in love?

You forgot scary, wifey! It was also scary at times. I was gripped from the first words, too, and I felt like I was right there with the characters. I can only say I agree with everything you said! And the circumstances under which Caden and Greyson fell in love in Cutting Edge were extremely intense. And their chemistry was hot from the start. Even when they were trying to resist their attraction, it was clear that there was something there. Something very strong.

I loved the dynamics between Caden and Greyson, with him being a surgeon and her a psychiatrist but her out-ranking him in the military. Their roles were at odds at times just as their reasons for serving. What did you make of their positions, rank, and how they saw each other?

I actually loved that she was a major, and he was lower in the hierarchy. Apart from his little show when she first introduced herself to him, he was good at having a female boss, and that just made me like him more. I understood her reasons for serving more than his – even if in a way his were understandable as well. Caden hadn’t been through all the military training she had been through, so it was logical that she outranked him. I loved how they saw each other – and how they just had this feeling that the other was right for them.

The even that led to THE event had me anxious to the point of biting my nails. I was shocked Caden did what he did even though it wasn’t that surprising. How did you feel about his actions and the repercussions?

I was totally shocked! And the aftermath was heart-breaking. Even if I was shocked, I could understand his thinking – especially with how all the other guys were ribbing him. Like he wasn’t really military. The repercussions were devastating, that’s for sure.

THE event. It left me gasping and almost quaking. I didn’t see that coming. Did you? And what did you think?

I was just shocked. Not sure what to say apart from that. And I definitely didn’t see it coming. Everything was fast and intense, and everything was dipped in danger, too.

The ending left me swooning. It was quite the gesture on Caden’s part. And it certainly has me chomping at the bit for what comes next. How did you feel about the ending?

Oh my, Caden… I have to say I was a little perplexed by that gesture. I wasn’t sure how to feel about that – his reasoning. And if it was more about someone else than about Greyson, if you get my drift 😉

  1. I have been meaning to get to this author but haven’t picked her up yet. But this novella sounds perfect to try out her writing and I just love those books that just grip you into the story and you don’t want to put it down. LOVE those.
