Blogtour Review : For the Love of April French – Penny Aimes

Blogtour Review : For the Love of April French – Penny Aimes

For the Love of April French is a tender, sweet romance between April and Dennis, where they both have some past demons to overcome. As soon as I read the synopsis for this novel, I knew I had to read For the Love of April French! A romance with a trans woman as the main character appealed to me, and the fact that the author is also a trans woman is what completely sold me. I loved getting to know April, and to understand how she thought through so many things before acting. In many ways, she was so very self possessed, and in others, she was insecure and a little afraid. I think that is par for the course […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review: Concrete Rose – Angie Thomas

Blogger Wife Chat Review: Concrete Rose – Angie Thomas

Oh my gosh, Brandee. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely adored Concrete Rose. I love that Thomas used AAVE both for the inner thoughts and for the dialogues, because it made the whole story stand out to me as very authentic and realistic. What did you think of that choice? I can’t imagine anything more perfect than AThomas giving us Concrete Rose. There was more story left after The Hate U Give – it just happened to be the story that came before. And I adored it as well. The fact that AThomas used AAVE for both the inner dialog as well as for the dialogues gave Mav’s story the richness it deserved. Very authentic and genuine. Another […]

ARC Review : Jett – Sawyer Bennett

ARC Review : Jett – Sawyer Bennett

As always, Sawyer Bennett’s hockey stars and the person they fall in love with grabbed me from the first word! Jett is fine, and I loved how persistent he was with Emory when she appeared to not be interested. Jett is a very tender romance in many places, especially because Emory is a single mother. In fact, she turns out being everything Jett thought he would never want, which just made their story even better in my opinion. Emory was very gun-shy, with good reason, and the readers and Jett learned of those reasons little by little. Each time I thought Jett would turn around and run, he surprised both me and Emory by being understanding, caring, and even loving <3 […]

Audiobook Challenge Midyear Check-in

Audiobook Challenge Midyear Check-in

Audiobook Challenge Mid-year Check-in I have listened to 9 audiobooks this year – which is surprisingly few IMO. I thought I had listened to a lot more than that to be honest. I have enjoyed all the books I’ve listened to, and I really want to listen to many, many more. However, I kind of need to do something else at the same time as I’m listening, or I feel a little too idle. I mostly listen when I drive to work, and sometimes on the bus or other public transport. Now that summer is here, I won’t really have to go anywhere for the next several weeks, so I need to find myself a new listening routine. Audiobook Challenge […]

ARC Review: The Mama Diaries – Belle Brooks

ARC Review: The Mama Diaries – Belle Brooks

The Mama Diaries is the book all mothers need in their life. Belle Brooks has a fantastic sense of humor, and in The Mama Diaries, she truly shone that humor on all the hard times mamas can have in the day-to-day life of raising their beloved children. Tantrums, puke, poop, love, hugs and more – it’s all part of being a mama, and it was beautifully (and very funnily) depicted in this novel. I loved that the four women, Tracey, Mia, Anna and Haddie, met and hit it off from the get-go. They all needed some friends, and The Mama Diaries showed that women can be so much stronger together. Building each other up, having each other’s backs, and simply […]
