Audio Review ~ A Conspiracy in Belgravia ~ Sherry Thomas

Audio Review ~ A Conspiracy in Belgravia ~ Sherry Thomas

A Conspiracy in Belgravia cemented my opinion: I’m absolutely enamored with this series. The characters are charming, the mystery well-done…I was shocked at the reveals. SHOCKED! And the relationship between Charlotte and Lord Ingram is tender yet building towards something I’m desperately hoping for! The mystery in this installment involved both Lord Ingram’s wife as well as Charlotte’s illegitimate brother. I’m quite certain all the clues were laid out but I was unable to connect the dots for this one. My curiosity was piqued, of course, but the reveal was shocking. I mean, I knew a little but the whole of it left me reeling. LOL Besides the mystery, we have Lord Bancroft renewing his proposal to Charlotte, Livia meeting […]

Review ~ A Deal with the Devil ~ Elizabeth O’Roark

Review ~ A Deal with the Devil ~ Elizabeth O’Roark

I think I may have found a new favorite author. I picked up A Deal with the Devil after seeing Jana Aston recommend it as the “best book of 2021.” It’s absolutely going on my list of best reads in 2022. The last thing Tali wants to do is a 6-week gig working for Hayes Flynn, temporarily stepping into her friend’s position. Hayes has a certain reputation and Tali’s had enough of womanizing men, especially after being betrayed by the one she thought she’d marry. But she needs the money in the worst way so she’ll take the job and heed her friend’s advice…”don’t sleep with him.” Shouldn’t be difficult to make it the 6 weeks. But the more time […]

Audio Review ~ Boyfriend Material ~ Alexis Hall

Audio Review ~ Boyfriend Material ~ Alexis Hall

Prepare yourselves. I’m about to gush. Per usual, I’m a little late to the party but Boyfriend Material is EVERYTHING. It wow’d me in a way I wasn’t prepared for. Not only are the characters utterly engaging – particularly Luc & Oliver – but the narrator was…well, epic! So Luc is the son of a famous music duo and therefore is peripherally famous. Unfortunately for Luc, this “fame” typically lands in him tabloids in tragically unflattering situations. It’s gotten so bad that it’s affecting his job as a fundraiser. Solution? Clean up his act by being seen with a respectable boyfriend. Enter Oliver. Oliver is a criminal defense barrister. He’s stuffy, stoic, and uptight. A perfectly respectable fake boyfriend. At […]

Review ~ NOS4A2 ~ Joe Hill

Review ~ NOS4A2 ~ Joe Hill

Oh my! I don’t think I could’ve chosen a better *horror* book than NOS4A2 for COYER’s Outside Your Box Read-a-thon. I don’t read horror anymore. In fact, I haven’t read any in about 30 years so horro was a no-brainer when thinking of reading outside my box. While JHill didn’t shy away from the violence that defines this genre, at least in my mind, the story took precedence and it was a creative, creepy, and thought-provoking tale. I’m not going to say much about the book because if you haven’t read this, you should go in blind like I did. NOS4A2 revolved around engaging characters – even the creepy ones – as well as a story that kept me fascinated. […]

Review ~ A Fall of Water ~ Elizabeth Hunter

Review ~ A Fall of Water ~ Elizabeth Hunter

A Fall of Water was the perfect ending to B & Gio’s story, as well as the Elemental Mysteries series. EHunter brought things to a very satisfying conclusion without it being trite. She also setting the stage for the two (?) spinoff series in such a way as to ensure I continue on with these characters. 🙂 Special thanks, once again, to Lenore of Celebrity Readers for buddy reading with me. *mwah* Everything has been leading up to this final book. The culmination of it all was exhilarating, gut-wrenching, and riveting. B and Gio spend much time apart as they deal with politics and locating allies required in order to prevent a war as well as the release of a […]

Review ~ The Force of Wind ~ Elizabeth Hunter

Review ~ The Force of Wind ~ Elizabeth Hunter

OH. MY. GOODNESS. EHunter continues to hold me captive with this series. Maybe it’s just me but I feel like this series keeps getting better. I was so eager to crack open this book but I could never have prepared for all it contained. Gah! So intense! The Force of Wind kept me riveted with this installment. I was alternately biting my nails, tearing up, and swooning. The Force of Wind puts the romance between B and Gio on the back burner in favor of lots of action. It begins with B and Gio traveling to China – yet another fantastic locale. They’re meeting Tenzin there for a conference with is essentially the ruling council of vampires. The surprises that […]

Review ~ A Study in Scarlet Women ~ Sherry Thomas

Review ~ A Study in Scarlet Women ~ Sherry Thomas

A Study in Scarlet Women landed on my radar and TBR thanks to Caffeinated Reviewer’s review. I don’t read mysteries much so I decided to include this for COYER’s Outside the Box Read-a-Thon. I’m every so grateful for the RAT since I’m now a huge fan of Lady Sherlock! I will admit that A Study in Scarlet Women got off to a slow start for me. However, it was very necessary to set up the back story and the foundation for the series and this mystery. And after the foundation was laid, the story took off. Lady Charlotte Holmes is a quirky young woman with a talent for what she refers to as discernment. She’s certainly unconventional for the times […]

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Wild ~ Sophie Jordan

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Wild ~ Sophie Jordan

Yay! I can read a series in a month! 😀 Special thanks to BerlsSC for buddy reading The Ivy Chronicles with me. I don’t read NA much anymore but I have to say that SJordan writes it well. This series is extraordinary – well-written, excellent character development, and authentic plot lines. I enjoyed every minute. Y’all know I adored Foreplay and Tease. But Wild? Wild was on a whole other level. 😉 Georgia is the steadiest of the trio of girls in this series. She’s a good girl, from a good family (as long as you don’t recall that her birth father, a musician, abandoned them). She has a solid, parent-approved (some might say dictated?) plan for her future. She’s […]

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Tease ~ Sophie Jordan

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Tease ~ Sophie Jordan

Remembering Foreplay like I do despite it being 9 years since I read it, I had high expectations of Tease. SJordan did a stellar job in meeting those expectations, only falling short in one minor area. Overall though, I loved Emerson and Shaw’s story. Emerson is such a great character. She’s loyal and kind and always has her friends’ backs. That’s what made me sad about how Tease opened because Emerson wasn’t receiving those in return from someone who was supposedly a friend. However, she did meet Shaw so, silver lining. 😉 But I digress. Emerson works hard at presenting herself as carefree, in control, and relatively happy. If she keeps her facade in place and her walls up, no […]

Review ~ This Same Earth ~ Elizabeth Hunter

Review ~ This Same Earth ~ Elizabeth Hunter

I was thrilled to be able to continue this series as a buddy read with my COYER friend, Lenore! It makes for more exciting reading when you can actively discuss the book while you’re reading it. This Same Earth picks up 5 years after the end of the first book. B is now a research librarian living in California and dating. Gio is never far from her thoughts, much to her dismay since he left her, but life is good. Then one day while working, B gets a whiff of a familiar scent and she’s once again being drawn into a world she thought she’d left behind…and back to Gio. Even though most of it’s been done off-page, I could […]
