Armchair BEA Wrapup post – and a little more

Today is the final day of Armchair BEA, and reflecting on this past week and how much fun I’ve had being very busy commenting on blogs I found through Armchair BEA is a bittersweet thing to do! I discovered a lot of new blogs I’m following now, I loved reading different points of views on genres, what kind of books belong in which genre, and also what genres different bloggers prefer to read and blog about.

Here is a list of new-to-me bloggers whom I met and interacted with during Armchair BEA – and whom I am now following, and look forward to getting to know better :

Ashley from The Bibliophile’s Corner
Tanya from Mom’s Small Victories
Amy from Lady Reader’s Book Stuff
Andi from Estella’s Revenge
Angela from Library Girl Reads and Reviews
Ciska from Ciska’s Book Chest
Kriss from Cabin Goddess
Melissa from Harley Bear Bookblog
Fahima from I Read Ergo I Write

I connected with many more bloggers, but for some reason, I felt like I really ‘clicked’ with those above. We don’t necessarily love reading the same genres, which is actually nice – it helps me expand my reading horizons. And I felt like they all have something that can challenge me to be better, or see things from a different point of view,  and that’s always a good thing in my opinion.

I loved the different discussions this week, both those about books, genres and what literature means to us, as well as the dictionary’s definitions. The posts about developing our blogs, ethics, and how to deal with various things in blogging were very interesting as well. I had a great week, and I loved being able to be a part of Armchair BEA – next year, I’m going to try for the real thing, though 🙂

What I was most amazed at is the organization done by the ladies over at Armchair BEA, because they have worked very hard at keeping us busy and kind of in the loop from our own homes, and I really want to thank them all! It was awesome that the Tweet Chats were at different times every day – because it really permitted people from different time zones to participate at least once or twice. And I love all the posts and the giveaways they have put together for us so we could join in the fun!

Another thing I have truly enjoyed is the fact that the bookblogging community is even  more international than I first had thought. And chatting with people from all of the continents has been a great experience for me. The fact that we have books and reading in common is the thing that helps us with a starting point for discussions, and I love learning about other countries and cultures – doing so while chatting with others who also love books is a huge added bonus for me.

So, the Armchair BEA has been a positive experience for me, and one I’ll eagerly participate in again, if I can’t make it to the actual BEA.

Today is also a special day for me – it is my 1st blogoversary! I have now been blogging for a full year, and I hope there will be many more to come. I’m not doing anything special for that, since I hosted a giveaway during the Armchair BEA event, and I am sending out three books each to four different bloggers next week.

Thanks for stopping by – and for letting me discover more blogs, more nice people, and more books!

  1. Yea, Lexxie! Congrats on your blogoversary! I’m so happy you started blogging…so I could “meet” you! 😉 And thanks for the lovely Armchair BEA wrapup. I’m glad you enjoyed participating in it so much. I’m going to check out the bloggers you listed. There are several I don’t know about. 🙂 I have enjoyed Armchair BEA through you. And if I can’t go next year, I’ll probably partake through this event. It’s been fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    • Thanks Brandee! I agree, I’m so happy I started blogging – I have met so many like-minded people thanks to this little piece of bookishness on the internet 🙂

I am hoping to be able to go to NYC next year, but if I don’t I’ll participate in the Armchair BEA event for sure 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • Time already zips by! I think it’s incredible that a whole year has passed already 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by, Sue!

    • Yes, and I was really happy about finding even more awesome blogs to follow 🙂

Thanks for the congrats, and for stopping by + taking the time to comment, Chelsea 🙂

    • I’m following you as well, Kerri – all thanks to Armchair BEA 🙂 It’s been a really great week for connecting with other bloggers, and it’s always great to see what other bloggers think about the various subjects we’ve discussed.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  2. Aw that’s so sweet of you Lexxie! And you can bet I feel the same 🙂 If we ever end up going to BEA together, we should definitely meet up! I would love to meet you in person 😀

I think this was one of the best parts of Armchair BEA – meeting and interacting with all of you guys! I’m going to miss it, and I cant wait for next year! 😀

    • There’s no need to stop interacting just because Armchair BEA is over, though. I’ll coninue to check out your blog, Fahima 🙂

And I agree, it would be great to meet in person!

  3. It really is hard to find bloggers that I “click with” as you put it. And I agree, I’m not looking for someone who reads exactly what I read. Maybe I’m too choosy, but it’s just rare for me to find a new-to-me book blog that I get really excited about following.

Maybe I need to use Twitter to connect more… funny how personality can sometimes shine through more in 140 characters than in a structured blog post.

    • LOL those 140 characters can be a trap sometimes 🙂 I’ve found many bloggers this week, though, also because I’ve written posts that are different from my normal reviews. I may have to make sure to do something like that more often.

Thanks for stopping by Charleen 🙂

  4. I had so much fun this week, too. Like so many other bloggers, I wish I’d had time to visit everyone. I read mostly YA, but I discovered a lot of great non-YA books that I hope to check out eventually.

Congratulations on your blogoversary, Lexxie! May it be the first of many!

    • Thanks Lee 🙂 I agree, I have discovered lots of books in genres I don’t read much in usually, and I’ve added tons to my TBR this week 🙂

      Thakns for stopping by!

    • Thankss Melissa 🙂 Yes, it was awesome! I got to know so many new blogs, and I’ve added tons of books to my TBR 🙂 I’m a very happy blogger indeed.

  5. Congratulations on your one-year blogoversary! I met many new book bloggers during ArmchairBEA, too, including you! I’m trying to catch up with ABEA posts now, because real life got a little too busy the second half of the week.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • Thank you Jessica! I feel like I’ve been celebrating all week long – and I’ve had such a great time meeting new bloggers.

      Thanks for stopping by:)

  6. You are so kind to include me on your list. Coincidentally, i was just writing my wrap up and coming to your site to grab your link to give YOU a shout out. I enjoyed getting to know you better this week too and can’t wait to read the books that I won. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on so many of my posts, I’m behind on replying to those too but I will!

    • Thank you! And the books you won will be sent out on Wednesday. I have an exam tomorrow, so I won’t go and stand in line at the post office today.

I played catch-up on comments yesterday – I can’t believe how many I had missed

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 I look forward to getting to know you better, Tanya.

    • I know, it’s truly amazing, and I also added so many new books to my TBR – there are so many I hadn’t even heard of before.

Thanks for stopping by Laurie 🙂

    • Thanks Ashley, both for the comment and for the congrats 🙂 I have added so many books I would have never looked at twice, thanks to Armchair BEA and all the wonderful bloggers who participated.
