2015 New Release Challenge
The 2015 New Release Challenge is a year-long challenge in which we aim to read books released in 2015. I am lucky enough to have an awesome co-host for the New Release Challenge, Stormi @ Books, Movies, Reviews Oh My! is here to share both the fun and the burden 😉 We have decided that there will be giveaways and linkups all through the year, as well as some read-a-thons and twitter parties to keep us motivated.
In 2014, I read 150 ARCs, many of those were 2014 releases, but I also read quite a few of my favorite authors’ new releases, too, but there was no challenge to help cheer me on, make sure I wrote my reviews, and generally gave me a boost for continuing to read and review all the books I read. This is why I wanted a New Release Challenge, and I searched high and wide for one. After a while of google-fu, I found one, but it’s not exactly the way I wanted my challenge to be, however it is still inspired by Olivia at Book Comet: 2015 New Releases Reading Challenge. And her challenge might be 100% the way you want a New Release Challenge to be.
The rules for the 2015 New Release Challenge are simple:
- Books has to be read and reviewed in 2015, and the book has to be released in 2015
- Other challenges can be used as well, if you are participating in the Netgalley / Edelweiss challenge or in the COYER challenge, books can count towards more than one challenge, as long as the ones you use for the 2015 New Release Reading Challenge qualify to the first rule.
- The minimum length for a book to qualify is 130 pages, it can be in any format though, physical, e-book, ARC or audiobook.
- The New Book Release Challenge is open from January 1st through December 31st 2015, and sign-ups are open until March 15th.
There are four levels in the New Release Challenge:
- 1-15 books per year – New Release Newbie
- 16-30 books per year – New Release Pro
- 31-45 books per year – New Release Veteran
- +45 books per year – New Release Enthusiast
To make the 2015 New Release Challenge both fun and motivating, there will be giveaways, as well as some possible read-a-thons and twitter parties. To sign up, please link your sign-up post in the linky below, and also make sure you use the quarterly linky for your reviews, as that will be the way the giveaway winner will be chosen. You can choose if you want to do monthly or quarterly challenge updates on your blog, but for this first edition, we will go with quarterly official link-ups and giveaways.
It would be great if you used the hashtag #2015NewReleaseChallenge when you tweet about it, and post a review, so that it is easier to find your review on the day you post it 🙂 Here’s my Challenge Page for the New Release Challenge if you want to know which books I’ve read so far.
Also, if you’re not sure where you can find out about new releases, I have a Goodreads 2015 Releases shelf to help you get started.
Because I read a whole lot of books each year, I’m aiming for the New Release Enthusiast myself 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll join us, and that you will have fun with this challenge.
I realy like the idea for this challenge. Just made my challenge post and joined! I am hoping to get around 15 new releases read this year, but not sure if I am going to make it. I am going for quarterly recap posts as I don’t read enough to make monthly recaps worthwile.
YAY Lola! 15 new releases is good, and quarterly updates is good. I’m not sure I’ll do updates more often than that myself – apart from if I do an update for all my challenges at the same time.
Might do this one!! Sounds fun and a good way to keep up with the new ones.
I’m glad you think it’s a good idea, too, Kat. I look forward to seeing your sign-up / goal post soon 🙂
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I love this idea! There are so many 2015 releases I’m looking forward to reading, and this challenge sounds perfect 🙂 I’m not sure which level I’ll aim for just yet… I’ll have a think about it, and I’ll post my sign-up post in a couple days. I’ve signed up to a couple of other challenges this year, and I think I’ll post smaller updates at the end of each month in my Weekend/Sunday Post posts… depending on how much progress I’ve made over the month! Thanks for creating the challenge 😀
Welcome, Alma! I am really looking forward to this. And it’s a good idea to post smaller updates in your Sunday Posts, that way, you are always up to date 🙂
There are so many 2015 releases I am looking forward to, as well. And it’s exciting to be able to share them!
I just signed up. I’ll see how many I read. I have a number I’m looking forward to.

I’m so excited you’re hissing this challenge, Lexxie. You and Stormi will do a great job. I will participate but probably at a lower level since i really need to read older books to hey them off my shelves. 🙂 i can’t wait to see what all you and Stormi have planned! *big hugs*
