Weekend Wrap-up #304 – Slow and Peaceful

Posted 15 February, 2020 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Reviews / 22 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #304

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

Ok, so I actually don’t know how Down and Dirty ended up on my kindle… it’s obviously an ARC, as it won’t be released until March, but I can’t find any record of it in my e-mails, or on NetGalley or Edelweiss. I guess the author must have sent it to my kindle. Thank you!

So, I definitely wasn’t supposed to buy this one. But hear me out… it was on sale for $1.99, and I loved the first book. So while I’m supposed to unearth the bookish bounties, I just had to one-click…

The Sunday Post #244 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

We got back home from Spain on Tuesday evening, and it was so windy here it was crazy! We found garden furniture all over the yard! Today, it rained in the morning, then it was sunny and warm, then, it became darkly overcast again.

After we got home, I wrote some more for one of my papers for Uni, and I also graded some of my students’ papers. I need to do more of that this weekend, but I really don’t feel like it.

This Week’s Puppies in Action:

Freddy on the beach, with the Medes islands in the background <3
Hercules on the beach, after digging for treasures <3

Hannah @ Books, Life and other Oddities interviewed a bookworm this week, and that bookworm is me!

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. What a nice surprise to find a book on your Kindle. Looks like the pups had a great time at the beach too. Hope you accomplish all the work you need to get done this weekend.

OOoh nice new reads! I am hoping Netgalley approves my request for Julie’s book soon! I can’t wait to see how that one ends! And it’s not breaking any book ban is the book is under $5! I mean that’s a steal no matter if it’s ebook or real book! 😉

Glad you had a nice time in Spain! I hope you enjoy the week ahead and all of your new reads!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • I hope you’ll get Julie’s book, too, Jessica. It’s going to be my next read.
Well, Brandee and I have a book ban that’s even stricter than that – we should try to only read books we own already, as we have so many books we own and haven’t read yet. But sometimes, it’s just impossible to resist, right?
      Have a great weekend!

  3. I love how elegant those puppies now look!

    Sorry for your windswept yard!

    Enjoy those books…Sisters looks tempting.

Thanks for your kind words on my blog…I do love how things are going now in my residence. I’ve been here nine months, but a lot has changed since I first came here. Thankfully, since I spent a lot of time fighting against it, probably because I love being in control of everything. LOL.

I hope you have a great week.

Yeah, that is a lot of wind to toss your yard furniture about. That’s funny about the phantom book appearance. 🙂 Sometimes you just have to bend the book resolution rules.
Puppies on the beach look like they had fun.

    Have another good week, Linda!

  5. Aw love the beach pics! Bet you guys are missing Spain probably already huh? Sounds like a great getaway. Sorry to hear about the crazy wind!

Hope your weekend is going awesome. 🙂

That’s too funny about the ARC just showing up! If it happened to me, I’d be pretty sure I accepted it and forgot about it, such is my state of mind right now.

Good luck with the papers – writing and grading – I know the feeling of not wanting to do it, that’s for sure. I hope you feel relaxed and rejuvenated from your Spain trip.

    Hugs!!

  7. We had a bunch of very windy days here too. That must be quite the different weather to get home to than what you had in Spain. Those pictures of your dogs are awesome with them on the beach. Have a great week!

  8. Glad you had a great time in Spain – the dogs certainly appreciated it! I’m guessing you were getting part of Storm Ciara on Tuesday – I hope Storm Dennis by-passes you, as the rain has been apocalyptic… I know the feeling about the pile of marking – hope you can whizz through it, anyhow and start tucking into those books. Have a great week, Linda.

It’s been pretty windy here too. The sound of the wind around the house is crazy at the moment!
    Your new books look great.
Have a great week and happy reading.

  10. I’m glad you had a week’s break even if you did have quite a lot of work to do. I find I enjoy work more when I can do it in the order I want. I’m having the issue of not wanting to do anything this weekend either. It’s been rainy, then cold. Now we will have a few warmer days, then back to rain followed by cold. Beautiful photos with the pups!

I hope you have an awesome week which is not too hectic and you will be able to read some of those new books!

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  11. It’s been stormy the past week or so here too… I’m looking forward to summer! I don’t usually say that for summer is typically too hot (and I dont like wishing my year away, lol) but this year I’d happily skip on to the warmer months!

The Night of The Dragon cover is beautiful! I hope you enjoy.

  12. It’s always nice to get secret gifts. Congratulations!

I feel you about grading student work. After spending yesterday lesson planning, I really don’t feel like grading, but I know I need to. Ugh! The duties of teachers never end! I hope you a productive day, and a great week!
